If anyone is interested in litebrite rebop id do 550 plus shipping club members only also it uas a korean e.g bt in it not a tone pump. Way more bottom end and volume

Anyhow heres the white whale.

I am aware of the rebops and their problem with this but never figured that a bass of this quality would suffer from this syndrome too. Glad I have the option to return it!

How do you guys deal with this issue? Lead weight implants into the body?

My NS5-H2 definitely has a little more neck dive than my Laklands, but a nice wide Levy's strap took care of that. Not an issue now!

My fretless (received in May 2013) had some neck dive even though I use a padded 3in strap, but I just changed out the tuners to hipshot ultralights and now it's perfect!

They are exact replacements and don't change the look of the bass at all! I'm sitting on the stock gotohs currently but could easily sell them if needed!

Just catching up on the club thread, been traveling all week, and saw these posts. I think I'm the club member in question. I happened to stumble upon that listing and its just silly to sell at that price. And it does have an impact on me and all of us when somebody does. My intent was to not make the club look bad, but rather to call out the obvious insane price. So if that offends anyone here, my apologies.

I love these basses and this club is an added bonus. I'm just not one to sit around and keep quiet when I see something that seems crazy like that.

I forget who asked but someone had noticed the TP Jr had a really hot output. I've been messing with my basses this morning and I noticed the TP JR and the TP at about 60% put out the same db +/- 1db (I used an iphone app, so its not perfect.) My NS20005 with korean haz copy is 5-7db quieter.

I have to say that every line of Spector is great. I really appreciate the attention to detail with my Legend, my CRFM is amazing and rivals most NS-2s. The NS2A is SOLID.... But I feel like the NS2000/5 is the best bang for you dollar. I wish I had a need to play a 5 string more, that bass is slamming. Very easy to play, sounds great, the string spacing is a little tighter so it lends well to playing "progressive" styles.

I've bought and sold several Spectors over the past year and a half so I guess that I'm part of the problem as well as part of the solution. I tend to move stuff more/less for what I paid for it.

You know I thought about this discussion more and I think maybe it came across a little harsh.

I mean I don't think someone like you is doing anything bad. I think a big part of it is just the churn of people trying a lot of different stuff. I've done that myself. If you have a bass change hands a few times in a year, and every time the seller is willing to take a small loss to move it, that's how you wind up with dirt cheap basses. That's the only way I can explain my NS-5XL.

Personally, I never want to come across as someone trying to "flip" a bass, so I am careful not to list for more than I paid.

It is a sellers market.

The seller sets the price and then agrees or doesn't agree to the purchase if there is an offer, sometimes we win or sometimes we lose and that depends on what you think the value is of the bass your wanting to sell and if there is enough people out in the market with the ability to purchase at the selling price.

It's always harsher when typed on a computer screen lol. There are some that buy cheap just to flip at a profit. Anyone that has been here a while knows who to deal with and who not to. I usually list a little higher than fair due to getting flooded with low ball offers. I'm not one to buy try basses and as attached as I get to my gear I really never plan to sell, but we all know how that goes I also try not to sell to people that I know will more than likely sell the bass shortly after they get it. My gear is like my kids and I like for it to go to someone I know will appreciate it.

I would like to make a few comments regarding the topic of pricing on used Spectors.
First, I don't think anyone here said anything out of line and I am not calling anyone out.

First and most important.
Remember, all of us here are Buyers and Sellers of Spectors.
As a Buyer you want to get the cheapest price possible
As a Seller you want to get the highest price possible.

IMHO the majority of people here have lost money when it comes to selling Spectors and all used music gear.

Maybe you bought something for $2,500 and sell it 4 months later for $2,300 because you are Gasin’ for something else. And the cycle continues and goes on with just about everyone.

Husky123 has mentioned that he looks at this as renting the bass for a few months.
So in that scenario he rented the bass for $50 a month.

As Fat240 mentioned above "There are some that buy cheap just to flip at a profit. Anyone that has been here a while knows who to deal with and who not to."

Last year there were a few members who were really good and creating lots of “HYPE” over a particular bass and were excellent at knowing exactly who to Gas up and when it was the right time to sell. There was also lots of Trading + Cash deals that went down so it confused the actual values even more.

Not saying this as a negative thing.

Wouldn’t we all like to have the skill and salesmanship and un-attached demeanor to do this. But not everyone is wired that way. Most of us here get emotionally attached to our Spectors and selling them hurt.

I also think that many of the club members who came around during this “HYPE” time are somewhat mystified on the pricing of used Spectors.

Example:
I purchased a NS-2JAR with a great looking figured natural top as a Mint Demo from Basscentral for $1,199
6 months later all I could get for it was $750 shipped. After shipping and paypal fees that’s under $700.

During the "Hype" time there was a used NS-2JAR with scuffs that sold for $1,100 here on Talkbass and I know this bass was originally purchased off ebay for $650.

Just recently, there were 2 NS-2JAR's that sold on ebay.
One sold for $550 +$40 Shipping
another sold for $560 +$29.00 Shipping

I don't need or want to get into any more particulars about the "Hype" period but I think we are all seeing the market change since that is no longer around but some of those “Hyped era” basses are looking to be sold now.

There are different times of the year when things sell high and sell low.
During the Summer months, June through August is the worst time for a seller since most people are spending money on vacations, home renovations and already spent their tax returns.

A few examples of Spectors that sold on ebay recently at crazy low prices.

2013 New Demo Forte 4X Sold for $1,599 Free Shipping

Euro4 White SE (Sting) bass sold for $1,180 +50 Shipping

2010 Spector Coda4 sold for $995 +$85 Shipping

From October to December things seem to pick up a bit since people are maybe getting money saved up again.

After NAMM, from February to April is the best time to sell. Since people are all Gased up from seeing the new Spectors at the NAMM show
and many are "Ready to buy" when their tax returns come.
