I ordered my 6XL with a "thinner" neck profile as well based on the Webster. It was bound to feel a little different since it's 6 vs. 5 on the Webster, but I think it's pretty close in thickness. Definitely easier to play than my Euro 6LX-EX was.

My thought here is if you want a thinner neck on your Euro, then you get the "Webster" treatment.

If you want a thinner neck on your USA you get the "Kramer" treatment.

One is what they do in the Czech Rep. And one is what they do in the Woodstock shop.

When I first talked to Todd about my NS-5XL build I mentioned how I liked the neck on my Euro5 and that's when he said he'll have the neck shaved. He said it's a set treatment they do in the NY shop to simulate the Kramer era necks. And it seems that the "Webster" treatment (per PJ) is only done in the Czech shop.

At least that's how I see it.

To be honest, I don't really understand the complaining about the USA necks and it almost seems like people don't give them a chance. The neck on my NS-5 XL is massive but it is also the most comfortable neck I have ever played and just feels great in my hands. Same with my NS-4 which I am possibly thinking about selling but I just know people will not like that neck.

I have owned a bunch of different Spector's over the years and sure you feel some differences in necks but none were ever so drastic that I had an issue playing them. One thing I will mention though is I devote a good amount of time every day in my practice schedule to work on strengthening my left hand as well as my reach so maybe that helps me deal with a larger neck. It really has helped my technique and I don't have issues switching between a 34" scale bass to a 35" scale bass. I guess I just like big necks....and I cannot lie ;)

I have long fingers and a 1.5" nut causes my hand to cramp while playing over 40 songs, I do prefer the Kramer neck profile but at a 1.625" width.

Thanks for the input guys I've seen a few Forte's for resale out there lately and I was just wondering what the deal was.It turns out the neck size is a large reason.It's good and bad thing for Spector.Bad because it may turn people off from getting a great bass,good because it's an easy fix for the next generation of Forte basses.But it seems to me that the overall complaint about Spector's is neck size.I was fortunate enough to have my necks on my XL5s made to my liking. (.84 at the first fret and .95 at the 12th) Not knowing it was very close the Webster size.I know I'm biased, but for the 5 it's the perfect size.But if Sam is right,they may be catching on to the demands of the consumer and making them a bit thinner (they have graphite in it for Christ sake!)

Well I got some good news and bad news. Good news is Todd got my ns 94 rewired beautifully. Bad news is my tonepump is bad. But being the good man Todd is, he's going to get that tonepump replaced for me asap. Thanks again, Todd for taking care of me! That's good Spector customer service. \m/

Anyone know someone who can refinish a rebop mm. I live in PA. and would like to change the color. I will be receiving a 5 string version to go along with the 4 string version i already have and do not want both of them to be blue.I would like it done in a matte polyurethane finish just like they are done from the factory.

Boy, am I late!

But I'm here with some good stuff...

A few weekends ago I had a Spectorversary: Two years since getting my NS2-A & I celebrated by taking it out for its first gig.

In the Cleveland Music Scene, there is a Bi-Annual event called the Lottery League where you sign up and are picked at random to form a Band with 3 other people.

You'll have 2 months to compose a 10-minute set to be performed at the marathon Big Show.

This year's Lottery League took place February through April. I signed up & the band that I ended up with was a complete disappointment: I HATE Garage Punk and the position of Bassist went to someone who'd never played it in their Life. Absolutely stupid.

I hadn't played Bass in Public since 1998 and this was to have been my return to it.

However - in the Avant-Garde/Free-Jazz/Noise faction of the Scene where I've been playing Synths for the past 3 years - we did something similar except that the Drawing & the Show occurred on the same day & we all just winged it.

I said "Dammit, this time I'm playing the Bass!".

Here's the clearest shot I could find from the show...

It turned out wonderfully.

I may have a HUGE gig announcement to make soon: if anyone is near the Cleveland, OH. area and this happens, I'd love to see you there.

User name streetscenes . Cincitycustoms never used him but a lot folks on tb like his work

Not at all, she just has a very clear idea of what she wants and I definitely respect that...that's why the Coda was created after all, so players who needed a more traditional looking bass could still have Spector tone and build quality...

I certainly can't complain about playing amazing gear in front of huge crowds while being paid handsomely to boot ;)

Thanks man! We actually played as night fell, so by the end of our set the hillside was filled with thousands of dancing candle lights :cool:

Really glad to hear your procedure went even better than expected, and that you've got your hands back on your own Coda already as well :bassist::D
