The Sunburst NS-2A that I owned, came just with just EMGs (No Pre) when I got it and it sounded great.
I ended up adding a Pre because the output volume was alot lower then my Spectors with Preamps.
In a controlled climate the older wood of the Kramer NS-2's seem to settle in and don't need much adjustments. The Kramer NS-2 I had, I only adjusted the TrussRod once a 1/4 turn during a season change. Other than that it stayed the same. The neck on the Kramer I had was super thin, actually too thin for me which is the main reason why I parted with it.

If he told you he shipped the NS-2 with Spector Nickels, they were a 45-105 set I know that is the gauge he uses.
Also, hearing from others who have played/own Spectors he has previously owned, (Including PJ)
Lee is very good at doing setups.

Really wish I had that Coda 5 back. I love Stuarts work but I'm a big guy and feel like the NS body looks ridiculous on me.
Chris Loe gave me the "non-spector owning club member" name or something like that.
I think graphite can help stabilize necks but I've had necks with graphite in them that still needed constant adjustment. I've been told by more than one luthier that they are more for eliminating deadspots than anything else.

Thanks for the great responses everyone. I LOVE the look of these basses and they sound great on YouTube. The only apprehension I'd have are the beefier necks. I gave up my P-bass for this reason.

I have my 1987 no serial number NS2A which has the stock Haz copy and stock pick-ups. I was telling everyone on facebook that I have never had to adjust the neck, it moves a little from time to time but never lands out of .015
I think I seen this one at the Guitar House when I stopped in for my visit but I was blinded by the Black Cherry behind the counter....that bass was a true work of art and has a sexy burst!
Sounds like you will like the Coda, or the Wimbish 1.5" nut width if your on a search!
For me C...I've had both the Forte 4&5 at the same time...the 4 wasn't getting played after I received the Forte 5, I decided that was a 5 string player so I sold the Forte 4, I loved the sound, the feel and build, nothing I didn't like, I wish I could've afforded to keep the Forte 5, a dream to play and tone like no other I've played but when the Coda 5XL Deluxe was introduced, I'd been wanting a Coda for almost 2 years...my income is very limited, I didn't have income for several months, so SAS kicked in and took control of my brain and sold my precious Forte 5 ( which I'd recorded my 1st CD of my band with, so it does have a very special place in my heart
) If I could've kept the Forte 5 with OBP3, XL scale, I would have done so. So for me it was financially driven to sell. At the time before Coda Deluxe I had been in negotiations to order a very special Forte 5 or Forte 6. I was..."THE FORTE MAN"! But since I've had the Coda there has been no looking back. I've never been in love and so in sync with a bass where it feels like an extension of my body as I have with this Coda! 
In the foreseeable future, all I see are Coda's in my arsenal. For me, the Coda is everything that I was looking for in a Fender back years ago but Fender fell so short to fulfill for what I had been searching for. It IS "THE SPECTOR" I'd been looking for since 2009 when i bought my first Spector a Legend 4 Classic BlackCherry.

try Markbass and epifani as well..hartke has a hydrive series which are neo drivers so not sure about 33 lbs...
Consider Acoustic cabs and rigs...they're like the NS-2A or Spector Legends in the cab industry...little recognition/love but priced for the person on a budget in mind. Last Dec. I bought an acoustic B-20 as a travel rig, 23#. I sounds amazing! I was very surprised and still am, how we'll it stands up to my Coda 5XL. It has a 12" speaker. I've started looking at their other size cabs for future buying. Their prices are considerable less than other "Big Name" cabs.

Oh, indeed! The tone is awesome! It's my go to bass for the hard rock/metal stuff. That being said, it has become my go to bass for everything else. Mainly for slap funk.

Somehow I'm really late to the party! I just sold my beloved euro with dcs and 18 volt spector usa pre to another club member. I'm sad to see it go but I'm having to clean house. Fortunately I still have the magic mojo special club bass ill refer to as the L.O.E. bass. It will stay with me and it gets a lot of love. Right now this old cat is playing covers and down sizing. All my big srage rigs are now gone. However the lone LOE bass smokes through my Bergantino HD212 and either a Mesa M6 or Thunderfunk 550B......so I'm a happy camper.....

If you are worried about the necks and are used to playing an Ibanez, a Legend might be a good fit for you. Here is our own CJModulus playing his Legend 5 Classic which is totally stock and shows how great the tone is on these basses.
Johnny April from Staind has come on here saying he plays the Legends because he loves the feel of the neck so much so that might be a good option for you

The LOE bass comes with a special history. It will never be sold...if a day comes where I can't play or choose to do so.....the bass may be gifted....that's the legacy behind that bass.

I was just about to chime in on that actually- the legends rock. Haha, there's really no other way for me to put it. The sound and feel is miles above other basses in their price range IMO. I'm a big fan of Ibanez's stuff, but the Spector's have the tone that I love.
Regarding the neck- my first 'good' bass (and by that I mean not from a Walmart starter pack) was a soundgear 405 which had the notoriously skinny Ibanez neck. I dont have that bass anymore, but going off of what I remember, the legend is slightly thicker, but not a whole lot. I really don't think you'd be disappointed if you tried one out
