I really like the tone of the Black Cherry NS2 with the Pau Ferro neck, when I have to play an aggressive sound this bass likes to dig in...This picture was taken at Turtleheads last Saturday, check out the collection in the rafters! lol

Wish I could've heard the tone. I sat in on a friends open mic session Tuesday night and took Mr. Brownstone (trying that name on for size) and plugged into an Acoustic w/810 cab. Kept everything about flat, added a little bass and treble from the bass and got a really cool tone. Can't wait to hear my NS-2.

Wish I could've heard the tone. I sat in on a friends open mic session Tuesday night and took Mr. Brownstone (trying that name on for size) and plugged into an Acoustic w/810 cab. Kept everything about flat, added a little bass and treble from the bass and got a really cool tone. Can't wait to hear my NS-2.

When they come up front and add to the collection you have to watch closely and not only for health reasons! lol

Great that Mr. Brownstone is getting to play out. I have my EQ set to the flat side with a little boost in the mids, the bass is set flat with just a little boost in the treble...what I enjoy is working on a fast, note filled tune that has a sloppy kind of hard rock approach...If the BEM sounds a little bright or clean because of its coating I can pick up the Pau Ferro and let it breath within the song!

I bought my 1st USA Spector (the red Brooklyn 4)in the fall of 1990.I've had many other basses since,Ken Smith,Marleaux,Sadowsky to name a few.I've found my self back to my first love,Spector.So I took all the things I liked from the other basses I used to play and made IMHO the best basses I could think of!

The name is a little deceiving as it really has P&J pickups under the H housing. We also went for the wide spaced neck (thin profile front to back) as well as a USA 9 volt Spector (HAZ) circuit in it. This bass sounds just as good as it looks.

It will be up on the GuitarHouse.net site in just a few minutes but wanted to give you guys the first look.

Yes. The Legend series are quite nice. I played one for about 2 years as my main piece while I was finishing up college. Mine was the original Legend 5 w/ the J+H setup.

That's going to be very cool switching between the 18v with the low B to the 9v 4 banger. I'm needing an A/B switch between the Spector and the Fretless, the Spector uses the wireless running clean into the amp and if I switch between the two NS2 basses I plan it with the set change but the fretless runs on a cord using effects....right now I just turn down the volume, switch basses, and then turn up the second bass...if I played more fretless songs it would become a pain.

One thing is for sure - your shoulder will thank you!

Both are great instruments, but I personally prefer the T-40 over the Legend series.
Now if you can save a bit more & step up to a nice used Euro or CRFM, that's another story...

the Zebops have really grown on me... I'm going to try a Rebop as my next bass... If I like it then maybe a Zebop is in my future

I love my Legend X. Its a great bass and definitely holds its own. My vote is yes

You won't be disappointed. The output on it will be more akin to your Euros, too.

all the rebops i have tried but have not owned ROCK and bring the thunder for sure.. love the deluxes with the inlays.

Speaking of next Spector purchases...I'm at a toss-up, right now. I applied a debt consolidation loan, which will also give me about $2000 in extra funds. With that, I'd like to get a new bass. There's a 2011 Fender MIA Dlx Jazz V in my local Long & McQuade that they're asking $1500 used for. I'm sure I could talk the sales clerk (my bass tech) into $1300 cash.

That being said...I'd REALLY like to get another Spector. Maybe a Euro 5, or a used NS-5 (if that's even a possibility).

What can I get for $1-2000 Canadian, after taxes/shipping/duty?

Doesn't have to be a Coda. I get a grindy Jazz sound out of my ReBop with its dual 40J pickups.

+1 The rebop is a fine creation for sure. I may be parting with one soon as I'm finding that I'm more partial to the neck-thru. (Swampy is particular, and the one that I /always/ reach for)

But the rebop is no slacker wither. It's like the swiss army knife of Spectors. Don't like the pre? Swap it out. Don't like frets? Pop on another neck.

Actually, if I do decide to let her go, she will include both a fretted and a brand-new (like never even installed) unlined fretless neck with matching black tuners. Swampy's pretty much ruined me of all other comers
