sunbeams are nickel plated rounds. same construction as hi beams but nickel instead of stainless.

Watch out where the huskies go...
Actually guys, according to the Bass Strings Online website the Sunbeams come in either SS or nickle and are round wound on a hex core.
I'm hoping that the SS version will sound like the hi beams but have higher tension allowing a lower action.
Jeff I think the bassstrings online might be referring to the lo-riders and got their descriptions mixed up. Check out the dr website. the "beam" strings (hi beams, fat beams and sunbeams are round core strings). the lo-riders are hex core and have higher tension and come in nickel or steel versions.
I have something I'd like to share with my family here...At my bands Tue. night gig, I had something just so magically happen while playing my Coda 5XL, something that just doesn't happen very often when I'm playing...one of our female vocalist has a high soprano range, we were in the middle of a song and this vocalist started into her high range during one of her solos, I felt compelled to go off the music page and follow her, mirroring her high singing with my bass by playing into the high-mid range...WOW, the combo was so beautiful & powerful!
We did this improv for what seemed 10 minutes...what a musical magical moment. 
It's no secret here but man...these Spector basses have amazing voicing!

I use Daddario balanced tension strings (nickel) I down tune.

Yep makes a major difference for the better for sure, just was to bright and not musical for me, but the flip made a total difference! And I can't wait for my next Spector, a 5er for sure. (In the meantime, I've really modded my SR505 (eek) w/ EMG 40DC's and a Nontrim TP..definitely gots a bomb tone, but ya def wanting a Spector 5.

I've been using Dunlop strings on all my basses lately. They seem to last a decent amount of time and have a good feel.
On another note, I coil tapped my ReBop today, I think I'll leave the TonePump in it as my Euro has a BQC installed. Has anyone done an active passive switch with the TonePump? I'd like to swap the bass pot with a P/P to do it.

I think this is my problem with my fiver. I use the same strings on my NS2A as my Legend 5. They just feel floppy on my 5. It just feels weird under my hands. Maybe I just need some bigger strings to try to get the same tension as my 4 banger? I use roto 66's on my NS2A and they growl like a MF.....
I used DR Lo Riders for years before going to CK's but not for fivers as I too thought they felt weird. For 4s they were fine.

As for strings, I've settled into DR Fat Beams for my Spectors.
You won't be able to swap the bass pot to do it. The tone pots on the Rebop are a goofy value. It would need to be 1 of the 2 volumes.
Out of curiosity, how did you coil tap the rebop??
I use DR lo-riders 45/65/85/105 on the Ultraviolet NS2 with BEM board, I like the tension of these strings with the Hex core. The Black Cherry NS2 with the Pau Ferro board I have Ernie Ball Cobalt hybrid slinky 45/65/85/105, the tension is still on the high side yet these have a nice midrange tone. The Fender basses I have Ernie Ball hybrid slinky 45.65/85/105. and the Fretless bass has D'Addario Chromes 45/85/80/100 flat wound, these have a very smooth and warm feel yet still have a high tension and bright tone.
I actually really love the sound and feel of chromes on my fretted Performer. Still really bright, but with a really nice smooth feel on the hand.

I use D'addario ProSteels. For me they have that sweet brightness and clank, yet on the Euro they can be tamed to provide a nice bluesy tone too. I want to find red colored stings somewhere, anyone got any advice?
