Played my Black Cherry NS2 at the show last night, this is the bass with the Ernie Ball Cobalt 45/65/85/105 strings...these strings have beefy lows with a nice growl, punchy highs, increased midrange with nice sustain.

Last night I decided to swap out the Black Nylon Tape Wounds on my Coda 5XL for my good ole standby GHS Precision SS FWs, missed their feel and growl...LOVING them all over again! Sounded awesome at this mornings gig! AND once again no drummer this week...2 weeks in a row:scowl:...oh well, the Coda and I have no problem with carrying the groove:D:bassist:

I was down in Tampa this week for work and grabbed a used black euro off the wall at Guitar Center. nothing out of the ordinary, just a trim pot tone pump bass. that store has a multitude of poorly set up basses, and I know from being down there a couple months ago that this bass has been in stock a while. point I want to make is that the stability and playability of spectors is something to be commended. the previous owner had clearly done a decent setup at one point and it hadn't seemed to budge at all. At $1199 it wasn't a killer deal but it's certainly worth it.

Those are pretty nice, but generally people upgrade the Mini Tone-pump because its kind of a 'meh' preamp, and with the pickups it's easy to upgrade the EMG-Hz's into any type of active EMG pickup you'd like, from P to J or any of their humbuckers. Price might be a bit high not sure, I've got neck-through korean Spectors for $500 and under whereas this is a bolt-on with flat body

That's a 2000-2001 Spector Q4-Pro
$199 is a good price.
These typically go for around $300...

Not a curved body. It's flat. Made of basswood. NS-2000 body shape.

Necks are usually very comfortable... 3-piece maple construction with stainless truss rod but no carbon fiber.

It's the forerunner to the Legend. My very first Spector was identical to this one. It was a very solid, good starter bass.

Ive been trying a different set every time I restring which is usually every 2 months on both basses.

I started with D'Addario Pro Steels, Then tried Blue Steels, Just restrung with Roto 66s. So far I think I like the Pro Steels the best. The Blue Steels sounded good but I broke the A string on both basses with in a week of each other.
