The red is nice looking but I agree, kind of on the high-side price-wise. If I'm not mistaken, there was a blue NS2C (I think) up there for very short money (like $400). They are fantastic basses for the money.

One nice thing about GC (the only thing?) is the 30 day return policy. If you don't like it, just take it back, and you're only out the money for shipping. Or better yet, have it shipped to a store, and if it sucks, you can return it on the spot (which is what I had to do once). Still, $399 clams is a pretty good deal, I'd say.

This is a NS2A with the dot markers and the price is making this bass worth investigating....

NS2A has the curved body, neck thru, dot inlays, rosewood fingerboard, Spector P & J pickups with Bass, treble, Volume, Tone, and black hardware.
NS2B Flat top body version of the NS2A.
NS2C bolt on version of the NS2B.

The picture of the blue looks like its curved and under the bridge it looks like it is a neck thru...however, it looks like it might have a modification (or I'm seeing things) as I see an extra knob????

That's still a pretty sweet deal thought IMO. That's what new Performers (Spector's entry level bass) cost and it's, to me anyway, a lot nicer instrument.

I haven't had experience with the Legends in person, the crowd here can probably help you out with that one. I'd buy that Kramer era just for the more NS-like body shape.

Hey johnsonabq - how many Spectors do you have?

Also - is there any negotiation room available with GC on used items?

NS-2A's are great basses but that price is a bit high. I can't tell if it has the original Spector branded pickups or if it was upgraded to EMG's but either way, they are asking too much I think.

You can try and negotiate with GC and they sometimes will work with you so you might be able to get them down. Definitely try the bass though since they really are excellent and even if you don't get that one, they always pop up on here and Ebay.

years of obsession..... we as a group have been identifying Spectors for years. Not a lot of people know Spectors well and there is a roller coaster of history with this company.

Thanks guys! We are super stoked to finally put something official out for everyone to see/listen. My Legend 6 is beautifully displayed in this video. Those inlay stickers make it look amazing.

that "extra knob" is a toggle switch. Thundar has some of these and I think its a kill switch, but I'm not sure.

I own a NS6C (guitar) and the quality is right on par with my Legend X.

I have never seen the kill switch on the NS2A basses, is that what I see more towards the neck in this picture?

There is a Spector Doug Wimbish Sig listed on the GC Used site for $549. Unfortunately, it has some damage to the neck, so it may not be as great of a deal as it seems. Figured I would save ya'll some time and effort by posting the pics I have here. It may simply be a Euro, not a Wimbish, as it does not say Wimbish on the back of the headstock.

Figured I would save ya'll some time and effort by posting the pics I have here. It may simply be a Euro, not a Wimbish, as it does not say Wimbish on the back of the headstock.

Looks like a regular Euro but the only way to really tell is to ask them for a measurement at the nut. I can't tell from the pics but that looks like a nasty crack in the neck that may have been repaired previously.

Hard to tell if it's a good deal or not without putting hands on it. I'd say that quite a bit of the gear that turns up on the GC site has been flogged to death first, at least in my experience anyway. That's not to say that there aren't good deals to be had. I remember a particular vintage USA Kramer that popped up there for about 5 minutes for $500 before it disappeared again. Someone got a hell of a deal. I always wondered who ended up with that one. Again, GC mismarks Spector all the time because most of them deal only in the more mainstream stuff like Fender.

Ive been plugging my head phones right into the bass. I also Have an IRig if I need to plug into my lap top, or I can plug into my Tascam US1800. Im loving the tone plugged right into the headphones. Wish I could duplicate that live.

Are you actually plugging into the bass input jack or did you mean your bass amp/rig?

I think any decent head with a headphone jack out on the back and some good headphones would be just what the doctor ordered!

I highly recommend having recording capabilities in your practice room, but for those times you are just wanting to wood shed, the headphone jack out of your amp (hopefully it has one) can be your best friend!

Exactly what I use but at home I don't need to worry about being quiet. When away from home I use my iPad with the Alesis interface, can be used for recording also, though I hadn't taken the time to do any... I need to though.
