Hard to tell if it's a good deal or not without putting hands on it. I'd say that quite a bit of the gear that turns up on the GC site has been flogged to death first, at least in my experience anyway. That's not to say that there aren't good deals to be had. I remember a particular vintage USA Kramer that popped up there for about 5 minutes for $500 before it disappeared again. Someone got a hell of a deal. I always wondered who ended up with that one. Again, GC mismarks Spector all the time because most of them deal only in the more mainstream stuff like Fender.

I got a 87 NS2 for 699 three years ago .They thought it was "eighties Euro":D. Even a Euro at that price would have been a good deal. But me being a Spector geek, I knew they made only a few white Euros at that time. When they put up the picture and I saw the bridge (I knew it was either a Kramer or Brooklyn)ordered it right away .She killed it as usual last night at band practice.

My preferred silent home practice/song learning rig is my TCE RH450 with my Tascam GB-10 plugged in with a set of Sony MDR-7506 headphones. Sounds like heaven to me.

I decided that one note in a song on the B string was not a reason (IMHO) to play the fiver. Once I did that, I now have a lot of songs (maybe half the playlist) to play the NS-2 on.

Plus, my fiver has the DCs/USA18v combo, and my four string will have the P/J pups with the USA9v and I want both those tones in my quiver.

After all, I'll bust my hump to entertain the people who come out to see me/us play; but, at this point in my life, I'm there to please myself first.

Although I have to say that while I'm waiting for the NS-2 to arrive, I'm playing strictly my NS-5XL. So you're right, the fiver can do it all.

I actually play on the B string lots....depending on songs of course, I'd rather & like the tone better playing Frets 6-11 on the B string vs. Frets 1-7 on the E string. Just preferences. :) I know with a 4 string you can use a drop tuner to get the same low end...Thankfully I have large hands with long fingers so I find the neck radius on fivers very comfortable and ape long arms to enjoy the longer scale length:D:bassist:

There is a Spector Doug Wimbish Sig listed on the GC Used site for $549. Unfortunately, it has some damage to the neck, so it may not be as great of a deal as it seems. Figured I would save ya'll some time and effort by posting the pics I have here. It may simply be a Euro, not a Wimbish, as it does not say Wimbish on the back of the headstock.

OUCH! :eek: The second Spector Bass in two weeks with this cracked neck in the same place. :scowl: Definitely not a Wimbish...no sig on HS. Should be able to get this for around $350 because of that cracked neck. A beautiful Euro.

That's a Eurol4LX not a Zebop.... which in my opinion makes it that much better. I've only seen maybe 2 zebrawood Euros other than Rebops :)

So I've been away for a while, popped back in and noticed the above.

So this is kind of wild but I actually own that Rebop now! I very carefully compared the wood grain and its absolutely the same one.

It came with hipshot ultralights when I got it and I think it had been through a couple other TB'ers before I got it. I have since fitted EMG DC's and a BQC system. That bass is a tone monster. Thick and growly with an incredible B.

Here is a lousy photo but it best shows the wood grain. I'll take a better one later.
