Thanks man,
@ Hugh: like Howards Feed & Wax, or Williamson Wax?
I put a ZoomH1 up on stage with me last Saturday to critique myself. Here's a short clip. I think I've just about got the Spector tone now.
This is just one of my hired gun gigs. Not my project. The the mix ain't so hot but I was only trying to hear what I was doing anyway. It's pretty much just me, the singer and the percussionist, you can't really hear the drums or guitar.

KILLER tone Jeff! Just tons of punch and clarity, way better than the tone on Sublime's original recording IMO, great pocket too
Give the original track a refresher listen though, the bass line has a quite a bit more movement in the chorus, lots of swung 16th notes...no sense in playing half notes on a bass that sounds that incredible unless you have to![]()

Thanks.
It's one of those things where he calls at 7pm and says to learn this song and I'll see you at 8:30. LOL
I'll go back to the MP3 and review the chorus.![]()
Ha! Yeah, I know the type...'singer-songwriters'
Even more impressive of a performance on an hours notice!![]()
I love the loop feature on the GB-10.Just went back over the tune and I see what you mean. Much more to it. I'll have for next time now. Thanks.
Also gave me a chance to get the intro to Sweet Child of Mine down better. Kinda murfed a bit on Saturday.I love the loop feature on the GB-10.

http://quizling.net/SanteriaBass.MP...ith Julio Iglesias though, that is fantastic!
I'm using one. But the amp I'm using already uses HPF baked in so not sure if it's doing anything. I use it to bring down the output of my basses to better play with my pedal board. Plus I can dial out any boominess from hollow stages and such.
bass sounds great Jeff!
I did not know that you player in a cover band with Julio Iglesias though, that is fantastic!

Uh the bass really sounds nice man. Good playing also, very tight.
may i ask you how you got that Spector sound? Anything specific or just the right gun and good playing?
YMMV... Void where prohibited. I put a ZoomH1 up on stage with me last Saturday to critique myself. Here's a short clip. I think I've just about got the Spector tone now.

My internet went down last night but I noticed that a friend posted a GK cabinet for sale (not sure what type and I think it had a 15" loaded in it????) on facebook, I think it was for $75. I will have to check when I get home to see if it's still available...if I'm back on line that is! I will send you the info just in case you might want to play with a new toy!!!Anybody here using the Gallien-Krueger 212MBE-II cabinet? I'm thinking of going to a single 2x12 cab @ 4 ohms for my smaller pickup gigs. That'll still pull full power out of my RH450 amp, but I'll only have to lug one cab around. (only 39lbs)
I use an Aguilar DB212 w/ an RH750 for my main project and I like the form factor of the 212. The GK is half the price and almost half the weight of the DB212.
There are several good 212 cabs out there but I'm trying to keep the cost and especially the weight down so that eliminates the Aggies, Bergs, etc... But I still want a cab that sounds half way decent.
