SPECTOR® Club - Part 71

So I recently discovered that the truss rod nut on my Rebop 5 is stripped pretty badly. I'm curious about how difficult it is to replace the truss rod assembly. If I loosen it up enough can I slide it out and slide a suitable replacement back in or is it going to require the fingerboard to be removed?

If anyone is looking to change a Kramer NS-2 or early NS4CR to Black Tuners.

(The screw holes point inwards)

They are Schaller M4 Tuners which came off a NS-2A. (D-Tuner Included)

Gears turn very smooth and they are in really good shape.

They will fit newer Euros but you would need to make a new hole pointing inwards.

I just heard from PJ; they are going to fix the fret on my NS-4 today and ship it directly back to me.
This situation has been a huge bummer, but PJ and JoAnne are working to make it better.
The bad fret was definitely an anomaly; I have never read about a single problem with a US custom build (why oh why do I have to be the one that can lay claim to this?!).
I am extremely disappointed in Atlanta Bass Gallery; it wasn't anything malicious, but that guy makes a lot of promises he doesn't keep, and he has no sense of urgency at all. My band is playing our first show this Saturday, and I hope I will have the NS-4 back for it.
As if all that isn't enough, my 1Spot died, and I haven't been able to use my B3K. So, I'm hoping to get that replacement this week before the show as well. UGH!!!

That's a bummer, but at least it's being handled by the right people now. On the one spot, I replaced mine with the the DC Brick after it died and am much happier.

Going through this right now, except that my nut seized & stripped.

Is yours a single action? If so, take the truss nut off & put a new one on. If it's a dual action or the rod has limited play, loosen the truss rod to neutral, remove the string nut, slide the rod out & put in an All Parts replacement dual action rod (should be the 25" rod, but measure it to be sure).

So I had a show on Saturday. Man oh man did the ns 94 really shine through. I got a lot of compliments on my tone. It sounded like thunder with Spector growl heaven. Running through my gk rig, of course was all so punchy :). My friend, who we did the benefit for, really liked my bass. He kept hinting at stealing it. Lol. But other than that, the new Lo riders on it were fantastic. Now I see why so many people like them. I really dig them.

I have 5 black Gotoh tuners (3 bass side and 2 treble side) that came off my US BO Fretless when I got it that are basically in new condition as well as a set of black Dunlop strap locks that are also new. I switched them out for Hipshot's as soon as I received my bass as it had a bit of neck dive and I prefer the Schaller strap locks.

I'm not really posting a for sale thread yet, but if you need such items, I will be more than happy to send them to you! PM me if interested!

Capital News!
One hour ago, PJ e-mailed to inform me that Jimmy already re-leveled ALL of the frets above #19, which fixed the problem. They are overnighting my NS-4 directly to me, so I'll have it for this weekend's show. HURRAY!!!

Spector had a minor boo-boo, and they jumped on it, fixed it, and redeemed themselves in a big way. I knew there was a reason I love them!

Glad you like them...and...it sounds like a lot of people at your show liked them as well! Keep your eyes on that Spector!!! lol

PJ is a great guy, he is a bassist who understands your needs and wants that Spector on the stage just as bad as you do...Todd is very much the same way!

Glad your almost ready for the show, I think I seen someone on a Facebook gear page wanting to sell some of the connections you talked about...I'll have to check once I get home this evening!
