Hmm, wonder how these might sound in one of my 435lx's?

Unless I miss my guess, these are essentially the P/J version of the JVX set, which sound absolutely phenomenal.

Similar clarity to the standard flavor, but more warmth and midrange grind; I just put a JAX set (almost identical to the JVX, but with alnico bars instead of pole pieces) in my JAR and they slay ::bassist:

The B7K is the most versatile distortion pedal I've ever used.

The B3K can do anything from a touch of tube grit to raging, vicious distortion a la Meshuggah or Dillinger Escape Plan, and the B7K is the exact same circuit with an added EQ.

I own both and honestly couldn't recommend them more highly.

If you're still on the fence, check out these two videos; both are Spector basses playing straight through a B3K to the FOH:

Cool jam dude...sounding great!

Cool! I'm really happpy with my black 435lx with the US18v in it, so putting these in my natural one will likely give me two distinct but killer tones out of 2 of the same basses! Can't wait!

I just came across two albums I played on about 6 years ago in my old hard-drive...it was very interesting to see how much I loved AND loathed some of the things that I played, but also noticeable was the obvious tonal improvement between those tracks and the more recent ones when I had switched over to Spector :D :bassist:

Yep. Sounds like a genius idea really ;)

I think so, despite the fact that I can NEVER leave well enough alone. Not one of my Spectors is stock anymore, LOL!

NS4 - Switched to black hardware
Euro 4lx - black hardware, refinish and Aguilar preamp
Euro 435lx (natural) - black hardware, ordered the Geezer pickups
Euro 435lx (black) - gold hardware, US18v preamp

Yes, I know I have a problem.

I have all 3, the B3K, Vintage Microtubes and Duality Fuzz. Here is my quick synopsis since Darkglass seems to be so popular with Spector guys.

First off, I have found many od/distortion/fuzz pedals don't play well with Spectors and other EMG equipped basses (and trust me I have owned plenty of them, just look at my classifieds feedback). The Darkglass work great with the Spectors. The best I have ever found.

B3K - A true distortion. You can get more of an overdrive out of it at lower gain settings however. It is a really nice pedal. The switches to fatten things up, etc. are quite nice. If you need a versatile distortion that can go from dirt to breathing fire, this is the one.

Vintage Microtubes - Probably my favorite one for sure. I play though the overdrive side of my Fender 100T tube head because "real tube overdrive" is what I want. I will say the Vintage Microtubes is by far the closest thing to the real thing I've ever tried (including many pedals that have a tube in them). Running it on my GK 1001 RB II, it really adds a warm, tubey overdrive while maintaining clarity. If you want to add that to your rig, this is the pedal. I will admit it is a little redundant on my Fender 100T with the way I set the amp.

Duality Fuzz - I hate fuzz for the most part. I rolled the dice and got this. I have only really messed around with it at home. I like it better than other fuzzes I've tried, but I'm not sure if it is a keeper for me. It is the most "extreme" of the pedals imo. I
Great review NOLA, thanks a lot. I own B3K and Duality. B3K is my "always on" pedal and I just love its sound but I can't say I'm happy with Duality in a live setting. It's ok playing with it in badroom but as soon as you plug it in with your band, my NS-2 just disappears. I think of trying 3 Leaf Audio You're Doom fuzz instead.

Is this the bass that's at Philtone? I'm going there this week I will find out what's doing.

Yes it is! I'd appreciate it! I know the guys busy and his reputation is stelar (I can't find any bad experiences anywhere online about him which says alot!) so I'm not worried about getting ripped off or anything, he and Jay seem like standup guys! I'd just like an assessment of if it's going to be an easy or really complicated fix! I did talk to Jay week before last just because I wanted to know if it had been unpacked and that it got there in one piece, because the last info I received was by email on 12/09 and it was "we'll be in touch when it arrives". The bass was signed for on 12/10. And I heard nothing whatsoever back. When I called Jay said they had just gotten back from extended Christmas vacation so they were behind but they'd let me know something as soon as they could, but Tuesday will be two weeks since that call and still nothing. Again I don't mind waiting, and I understand lead times, as my job is repairing military electronics hardware for a living, but our customers expect a target time frame for when we will be able to provide trouble shoot assessment and then afterwards a timeframe of when to expect to have there product back (and sometimes that time can be as much as 6 months waiting on replacement parts) but at least they have some kind of idea on how long there in for on wait time, and that's all I'm asking for! Hoping for a phone call or email everyday is for the birds!

I always like getting up on Saturday and playing some of the songs we will have in the set for that evenings show, this will be our second show of the 2014 season and currently we have 6 booked with the possibility of the 7th being added this Sunday...anyone else playing this weekend?

Just picked this bad boy up. All i can say is WOW ! Mesa boogie knocked it out of the park. Spector and Mesa match made in heaven
