SPECTOR® Club - Part 77

Hey guys, I just added recording capabilities to my home practice rig. Here's my first recording.
It's not note for note and there's a couple of flubs but hell, I had fun. Hope you like. (I suggest good headphones )

What kind of strings do you currently have the UV strung with?

And is this with the standard EMG's or the PJAX's?

One thing I have to do this morning is use my Fender strap because I have the Schaller gold strap locks on my NS2 basses and need to set up the Dunlop chrome locks for the Coda 4P DLX, I knew I was forgetting something while I was at the Guitar House (he has a rack full of cool straps that was under the Coda 4PJ loaded with active EMG pickups)....guess I can draw a Spector emblem on some masking tape and cover the Fender emblem! lol

The NS2 is strung with DR Low Riders right now. And since I bought Tony's MB112-II I haven't gotten the PJAX's yet. I expect them to take the tone to the "next level".

So a netlabel I know of sent me a message saying they'd love to work with me regarding my ambient project, ZeroNothing. It's so funny how the side project get the attention first

So the next weeks will be spent making some demos for them! I'll give your track a listen soon, Jeff, I promise!

Just got home from band practice with the Coda4. It took two days to get used to it (you were right, Tony); now I am loving it. I lengthened my strap about 5" and set my Zoom B3 to the exact settings that Sam posted for his NS-2. It turns out that those presets are excellent for the Coda, too!
I had what I consider to be the true punk bass sound today; it reminded me of Klaus Fluoride (Dead Kennedys). I got great feedback!
The Coda's a definite keeper! It'll be my punk bass, and the NS-4 and Webster are my metal mainstays.

I've had a few days with the new bass and I gotta say it sounds pretty mean! The MM pickup with the OBP-3 is pretty aggressive and gnarly! I can easily dial in a pretty sweet Stingray tone, and with a few slight adjustments I can get a nice p sound. When I flip the coil switch to single coil (front coil) it gets a nice growly 'Jaco-esque' jazz tone!

The neck is a little thicker on the MM bass compared to the fretless, so I'm going to ask my tech if he do a little shaping to make them a more uniform. Other than that, it balances perfectly and weighs in right at 9 lbs.

...basically I'm an extremely happy Spector owner!

time to shut up and get to the goods!

Well the more bad luck continues. My beloved Mesa prodigy died on me tonight at practice while we were jamming, lights just cut out and no sound, no nothing. Really disappointed, I wish I could just get all of my gear working and set the way I need it but it seems like the second I get something fixed something else goes.

Wow Brad! You have two very gorgeous USA Spector bolt-on basses. Perhaps the 2 most gorgeous bolt-ons in our family here. Your new MM has a burst figure in the center where the pickup and bridge is that looks like a rising Phoenix! Really cool! I'm so happy for you that you're loving the tone.
