Thank you Ice! It just seemed appropriate considering the way that burl looked. Plus Peanut Butter and Swampy has a nice ring to it, imo

Nope though I've thought about trying them...I've played the GHS black nylons and they sounded great. I've been thinking about putting them back on for awhile. Though I'm pricing some Dogal Jaco flats carbon strings right now to try.
Got some solid playing time with the new Lo Riders tonight with the Green Euro and they seem like great strings so far. A little less aggressive then I was hoping for so I may end up ordering a set of Daddario XL's to try out but the tension with the Lo Riders is spot on and I think with a few more hours on each set they'll lose a lot of the top end zing and have a great tone to them.
Also might end up recording a Propagandhi tune tonight, saw them in Winnipeg a few nights back and they were one of the best band's I've gotten to see live. For anyone familiar with the band it'll probably be Back to the Motor League, and it'll give me a good opportunity to test out the Mbox 3 I recently picked up on clearance.

At first I didn't care for the DR Lo-Riders...but...I'm very happy that I let them break in, it seems like they get a great balance to them.

Exactly the one I will get if I move on from the highly upgraded Legend.

You're welcome. Might be...my former NS-2A was an early Kramer era...that's too bad it doesn't line up to your stringsI have another spare but it's for a Legend Classic.
I'll put the digital calipers to it tomorrow. The cherry burst is close to the end of the line. My black one is older.maybe it matches that one.

I need to straighten the neck just a bit, but it's great. I set it up how I like and put my normal strings on there. Getting to be just like I like!
I was very intrigued about the 45CSTW pickups and being able to switch between single and dual coils, but the single coil sounds don't actually seem all that usable. They're much quieter as well. But I'll have fun experimenting. I think I may wanna try the EMG 45TWX instead at some point.
Interestingly, the fretboard seems to have shrunk just a bit relative to the neck, as there's a discernible slight ridge on both sides of the neck where the board and neck meet. And some of the frets are starting to poke out just a bit. Maybe a humidity difference thing.
Great bass though. I'm really enjoying! Also came with the OHC, a Spector beanie, and what looks to be the original documentation and tools!
So on these, is it an oil finish? The kind that requires nothing, or can/should you wax 'em like Warwicks occasionally? Also, will this finish work like a wax one in that it will allow you to do some spot refinishing/mild sanding if you re-oil and/or wax after? Had great success rejuvenating a Warwick SSI that way once.

This get together has nothing to do with how impressive of a player that you are. It's all about the love of the instruments and finally getting to put a face to everyone and just enjoying hanging and lots of bass discussion.
Got some exciting news for you all: Been on the phone a lot this week and today I can say without a doubt that PJ Rubal, from Spector, will be in attendance at our Spector Hang 2014. He is very excited about the opportunity to finally get to interact with all of you guys. This will not be an event you won't want to miss. Not like you would have wanted to miss it before, just the cherry on top.

This was the deal breaker for me and a lot of others on the TW's. Plus, I don't like that they are darker than the DC's in dual coil mode. They're (by design) more like the CS's.
However, that being said, someone posted, a few months ago, that EMG had supposedly rectified the volume difference in the TW's modes. I assumed he meant all of them, but maybe it's just (head scratchingly) only the X series...if at all.
Anybody really know?

Ok spector guys. I have a ns2005. Neck thru. Emh HZ. Quilted top. Curved body. I love this bass when I was playing in metal bands. Now I play more of a mellow kind I music and I'm just not very impressed with its tone in these conditions. I was wondering what is the value of one of these basses. I know each would be its own case but just a starting place would help greatly. I am think of selling it to fund other projects. If I'm not in the right place feel free to let me know. Thanks
Looks to be a satin finish, if so you can just wax it. I use Dunlop 65 guitar polish. If you have a blemish or scratch you can use a light rubbing compound, then wax over it. For the FB I use the Dunlop FB oil, of course there are other FB products that others use.
Those are really nice basses. I had one for awhile. Have you thought about just changing out the soap bars for EMG 40P5/40J pickups? That would give you a whole different sound. These basses sell between $500-750.00. They don't come up for sale much. They're kind of rare anymore. A very under rated & over looked bass really.

An amazing Poplar Burl 4LX/EX went up on my local Craigslist about a day after I was paid for my recently sold EBMM 05 Sunburst 4H.
So, obviously, I bought it.
The wife and I have decided to name him Peanut Butter.
Also, I bought Swampy.

The SpectorHang 2014 is still developing and the addition of PJ Rubal is going to be very exciting, we will have a question and answer time with PJ we hope you will enjoy.

Thanks icebox. I have thought about changing things up of it pip wise. I need to install a new jack anyways. I don't see much of them around for either that's the main reason why I was asking what they would be worth. Once I install the new jack I still might sell it. I'm not the most electronically adept. And there are not any shops withing 2 hrs of where I live that I trust( that's a shame really ). But I appreciate your input and the info on this bass.
After hearing these,i think i am gonna go for a pair of bc 210s (i am very intrigued with the vertical stacking theory) and an rh450.

If you want more aggressive, try the Fat Beams. They're REALLY nice for that kind of sound.
