I just saw the video for "Breaking the Silence" from Operation:Mindcrime by Queensryche on VH1 Classic this morning in our hotel. I always wondered, Eddie Jackson played all American Spectors, Right? I always assumed because they were so big at the time that they were all custom made American's for him, although he had lots of variations of hardware, and he played a white one with black hardware and no inlays (Like Wendy Testaburger) which made me order my first Spector, a white NS-2.
I saw them on that tour, the Empire tour twice, then the next tour, for Promised Land, Eddie was playing Fernandes Basses. No more perfect tone, no more coolness, I was almost done, then Degarmo left the band, I was done.
Opinions? Eddie Jackson on Operation:Mindcrime and Empire Best Recorded rock tone?
My vote=Yes...perfect Spector Growlyness, I would take that tone all day long.

The tone Eddie Jackson has on Mindcrime is just simply amazing. Reading through your post got me to start playing it and I was sitting here with my eyes closed and amazed listening to Revolution Calling. Does anyone know if he is using a pick for this recording? I know Eddie normally is a finger player but this sounds like it has a bit more bite like coming from a pick. Not being a pick player, I have none in the house but I am thinking of running out and buying a few just to test it out
I am curious as to when he started to use Spector's though because I am listing to Rage for Order also and his tone on some of the songs is really good also. The quality of the recording isn't as good as Mincrime though so it's a bit tough to tell.
And while Eddie Jackson's tone on Mindcrime is pretty much perfect, it's this melt your face tone that always makes me just shake my head

The bass sound in Operation:Mindcrime is the reason I decided to buy a Spector bass over a Warwick one.
It was the best decision I could ever make.
It's a shame Eddie doesn't use his Spector basses as he used to... Not to mention about their latest records...

This tone is what made me want a Spector!!!!!!! Far beyond driven's bass tone is pure awesomeness in my opinion!!! Such a great album!!!! The bass tone on "Floods" is another one that is just totally amazing in my book!!!!

It just felt right to me. And I'd call it by the full name. That's what's so funny to me. You've got Kenny and Clyde and Token... and Wendy Testaburger. I guess because it's white and pure and I keep hearing her tell Jennifer Aniston "Stay away from my man, B$#*S!"
I love Wendy. My wife, ironically, can do her voice just like her. It's pretty disturbing. LOL.
Both Eddie and Rex get great sounds out of their Spectors, but the tones that made me want one were mic todd's on Coheed and Cambria's first album (particularly on the track 'time consumer') and dan briggs's tone on Between the Buried and me's colors album.
But still, if all these great players can get great sounds out of their Spectors, it's clear that Stuart's been doing it right!

Eddie played Kramer Spectors. He's got some Euro5LX models and a couple of USA models currently. I talked with him at NAMM... a really, really nice guy. Very open to talking about what he's done on different albums and why.
For me... I was 13 years old, standing 40ft in front of Sting in Atlanta... and when he played this song that was it. I heard the tone and thought... OMG. Which ironically, is the name of the song:
