I would take more pictures, but I took well over 30 pictures and ended up with two that I liked. I set my standards high with photography. The other pictures I have of the Spector are much better. You guys into photography will know what I'm talking about.

I'll give you this:
Can I hear a "tonal" difference on a C played on a 34" B vs. a 35" B on the same model of bass? Probably not unless I'm using a ton of high and/or high mid (not my fave EQ setting :p).
The difference I can feel is the amount of sustain due to the higher string tension. If I hadn't notice this years ago I would certainly (as some players do) have been seeking out the older Spector 5's & 6's as 34" (or almost any reduced scale) is certainly going to be more comfortable.

A side benefit for many of us also is not having to jump from a .100 or .105 E all the way to a .130 or larger B to keep good tension. I like a .120 or.125 B because the farther it is away from bridge cable, the more pliable it is. It also feels more consistant across the board when all your other string's guages are usually only .015 to .020 apart. I've tried it several ways and the 35" or more is a definite plus here.

Below are the results from my recent Spector Sound Comparison Survey.

Here is the info on each of the basses. Obviously this isn’t an exact comparison since I they all had different strings.
But keep in mind that the strings that are currently on each bass are the strings that I felt
sounded best on that bass after trying just about every Stainless Steel String brand on the market.

All strings are Stainless Steel 45-65-85-105
(I have a Nickel Allergy thats why I only use Stainless Steel)
Brands listed below.

(2 out of 20 votes)#2 NS-2A (EMG BT) w/Black Diamond Stainless Steel Strings
(4 out of 20 votes)#3 NS-2JAR (EMG BT) w/Dunlop Stainless Steel Strings

Keep in mind that the Sadowsky Blue Labels are naturally much brighter then the Black Diamonds.
The Dunlops fall right in between.

Also, here are some of the comments that were left in question #2

OK. Spent an hour on the phone with Lance Harvill this afternoon.

He sent me the new Arms of the Sun album. Rex Brown performed on every track of the studio stuff although Rex is no longer with the band (He's doing Kill Devil Kill).

Lance is such a cool guy. And man... he's crazy talented. He wrote the songs, sings them all, plays lead guitar... and he's an Endorsed SPECTOR Electric Guitars Artist.

Show this band some love. These guys rock! And the split with Rex was friendly... Rex wanted to do some more heavy stuff... and Arms is more along the lines of Audioslave... So it wasn't a match. Although Rex's work on the studio stuff is wicked good. As you'd expect.

It's worth checking out and sharing.

Rex's playing on the album is awesome!
They have a really cool AIC feel on a few songs!

I dig them!

While I certainly agree with most of your post, the point above is not so cut and dried. 25 years ago when I was on a multi group show with Ted Nugent, his bassist at the time (who I forget nor met) had so much high end to his sound it made it sound like the worst set up ever as you could hear every buzz plain as day. I found his tone unlistenable.

A lot of what was attributed to distorted treble in John Entwistle's sound is a good share of fret buzz. One of his best quotes was, when asked if occasional fret buzz bothered him. His response was "Occasional?! I want them all to buzz evenly!" :eek::) I got a chance to check out one of his early Status Buzzard basses and he did indeed play with insanely low buzzy action....and we can definitely hear it.

I used to not like any buzz. In my new band the old bassist used to use a distortion pedal, they wanted me to use one also. I don't have a problem with that but I don't like the way they all pretty much kill your tone and low end. I tried litterally every pedal at GC, Sam ash , and a local store. I only cared for a few. So I decided to drop my action a little to get some buzz going with harder playing , and cranked the boost on the bass Into my SVT. They all love it, I am happy with it as well. Gives a nice distorted growl n snort, with no bottom end loss. Sometimes its all in just using what you already have and changing your thinking a bit.

I will say this. I don't think sftbln even kept both or 1 DC in either of his rebops if i'm not mistaken. I really hope you like them though!

I really like the Rebop. If I didn't I wouldn't waste the time or money switching out pickups. It's actually got some of the best out of the box fret work on any bass I've ever owned.

Yeah they play sweet out of the box. Oh on the emg's, I did like the 35p in there (better than dc/dc), still bolt on clunky though. I like the clunk, just on a NT better. The p/dc was ok, but I'm thinking a p/j would be better.

The Hz's to me had less of the clunk I didn't like lol. Kills me that it plays so good, I just like that compressed NT tone too much.

You know, it is. On paper it's exactly what I think I would want. But I do not like the looks of it. I haven't really liked the look of any of the Rebops I've seen with the exception of a flamed maple four string. I think I'm just gonna have to get used to that neck thru tone if I'm gonna get one. That or get a Legend.

Yep. He had a Big Al 5 SSS before and had to sell it. He decided to only keep one Spector cause that's all he needed but then a guy offered to sell him a Big Al 5 SSS and he was more attached then he realized.
