I've lived with this bass for a month now playing it 2-4 hrs per day. I'm getting ready to do a thorough review.. pros, cons, comparisons to my past basses, post pictures, etc in the next couple of days. I'll be as objective as humanly possible, so I hope it'll help you (and anyone else looking at this bass as a possible acquisition) in your decision making process.
I'd like to post it in the Spector Club forum... how to do that? It doesn't appear clearly where that is or how to join any of the clubs.. thanks

This is the only Spector Club forum. The guy that issues the club numbers is sketchy. Do a search here and PM him. It took me something like six months to get mine from him. He went AWOL because of a divorce. Good reason I'd say but he hasn't been back on the job either.

Looking forward to your review.

There's an amazing amount of tonal range with the 18volt USA Circuit... of course married to the dual EMG DC's.

I plugged both my NS-4 and my Euro4LX into a MINT Fender Showman Head piled on top of a SWR 12x4 cab.

The NS-4 has an insane amount of range from treble up on the bridge pup to bass up on the neck pup. Sounds like two different basses.

The Euro4LX, however... made the floor shake. I was impressed at just how good it sounded next to the NS-4.

I'm gassing to try an NS-2 now. These USA basses are amazing. The craftsmanship is mind-blowing. And I love the USA necks.

I've got an Ampeg SVT450 head and a huge Ampeg cab to play with tomorrow. :-)

Hey Marchone,

Unfortunately the workshop in Saugerties is not open to the public. And it's not encouraged to drop in and visit. Not that Stuart and the guys there don't love to meet and talk to happy Spector customers... but right now they are absolutely slammed and really can't take the time away from building guitars. NAMM is coming up and they've got a ton of orders to fill.

If you are in NYC, there is a USA stocking dealer right there...

I'd call them and ask if they have a Forte4 and/or NS-2 in stock for you to stop in and check out. This store is one of John Montagna's hang outs.

I haven't ever been to it but I hear it's really nice. And being a USA Stocking Dealer there's a good chance they'll at least have a NS-2 in stock.

Cool. I bought my NS-2JA Reissue there. I'll get over there next week. I'm going to see Montagna play a bass solo gig tomorrow night. I hope to get a chance to talk to him. We've already emailed back and forth. Nice guy.

Adlerburg's comments have me pretty much sold on a Forte-4. Too much GAS, not enough cash.

Well, I sold one of my basses for the first time ever.

My first 5er, a Legend Custom 5 from 2008.
I recently replaced it with an NS 2000/5 so I had no need for two nearly identical basses in terms of look (both have an amberburst finish) and neck profile.

I really should have taken a big family picture before selling it. But ill take a family shot tomorrow for you guys.
Even though my Legend 4 is still in pieces hahahaa, ill put it back together for the shot.

Theres still major gas for a white NS 4 string and possibly even an exotic wood finish 4 sometime in the further future... But im broke as hell with university :(

I think because she is holding/posing with Spectors it's OK...

Man. You guys have no idea how difficult my life is. I have to play beautiful Spectors... do photoshoots with beautiful models who barely wear any clothes except my Spectors... and then there's all the other crap... like working from home in my pajamas... Sleeping in late...

Seriously. You guys have no idea. It's hard being me.

The model is Jenn. She and I have been wanting to work together and have missed due to conflicting schedules for almost a year.

Besides doing a hostess gig at the Playboy Mansion... she's also a star player for the LA Lingerie Football Team.

And she's a really sweet and very intelligent young lady. When's she's not doing that she's a computer network engineer.

I'm commenting on my own post "Spector Forte 4 Review". Is it possible I solved the neck dive issue with Spectors???(one can't think it's this simple) When I wrote the review I was using 4" leather strap and as I said, it appeared perfectly balanced with no neck dive. Yesterday I purchased one of those comfort stretch straps (very comfortable by the way!), and started experiencing neck dive. The damn thing was slipping at my shoulder. I then went to my buddies and put the strap on his MM and P, and both axes fell into the same neck dive. Leather (more resistance) no dive, Nylon (less resistance) dive! For me, this is a simple solution... sew about 8"-10" of gripping material to the underside of the comfort strap just where it makes contact with the shoulder.. done!

Actually the neck dive issue is usually only found in the bolt-on models. The neck thru models are not known for neck diving. Primarily it's the ReBop line of Euro Bolt-ons that have the issue because their bodies are European Alder which is lighter than the AAAA Maple or Maple/Walnut/Alder mix that is used on the neck-thru models.

And the USA Exotic wood models... my Walnut and Redwood NS-4 is heavy. No issues with neck dive.

I wouldn't suspect that the Forte (even though they are flamed maple and not AAAA quilt) would ever be prone to neck diving.

So the fact that it dived on you is very suprising to me.

None of my Spectors dive. Even my NS-2JA-R which is very similar to the ReBop.

But I agree with you. A nice wide strap that doesn't slip makes a lot of sense.

Your review is awesome, BTW. Thanks for taking the effort to do it. I'm hoping I'll get to play a Forte-4 soon just to be able to compare it to my NS-4.
