I haven't taken a family portriat in a while so here it is. From left to right late 80's NS-2A Korean Import, Early NS4-CRFM before they started putting the crown inlays on them, and 2002 Korean NS20004. All are neckthrough and Hipshot Xtender Equiped.

I know this has been covered a bunch on here, but im looking to do some modding of my two Legends. Right now i believe I have the EMG 2 band EQ inside both, and im looking to swap those out and experiment with some other pramps.

I know Spector offers the Tone Pump, and the Tone Pump Jr, but Im not too keen on a boost only.

Another option is Aguilar pres. Im a big fan of Aguilar already, so at the moment Im leaning towards those.

What other options would you guys suggest as far as pre-amps go?

Also, just for kicks, what other kinds of pickups have you guys had success with?

i think i'm gonna stick with the golden bridge. the black doesn't seems right to me

Oh Em GEE!!! I know I voted all gold but that black/gold combo is SIIIIICK!!!! Holy bejeebus that's awesome. I've actually never seen the black/gold combo look bad but I had never thought of it on a Spector! Do it! Do it now!

You may want to consider the EMG BQC preamp. It has bass/treble, midrange w/sweepable frequency all on concentric pots. The treble also has dip switches for changing the treble frequency center. If you get the system, it comes with a pre-wired a volume and balance control making installation much easier and would not require any drilling mods. However, keep in mind if your pick ups are passive you may want to utilize your existing volume control(s) as I believe the system comes pre-wired with a 25k pot for active pickups. Also, make sure you have enough room in the control cavity to accommodate the preamp, especially if you plan on running it at 18 volts. :)

Whats the difference between 18 and 9 volts? Both my Legends are passive, but already have active Pres, which i believe are EMGs.

I have to say as a fan of the black Spector & Hipshot bridges and Hipshot & Gotoh tuners that Spector uses for the ReBop and USA Bolt-On lines (and you'll occasionally see as a custom option on the Euro or USA N/T basses) and of black hardware over gold in general (in terms of both looks and reliability - gold pits and wears down far quicker and more often IMO) and I think the "Black Bridge/Gold Saddles" looks wicked and if offered as a custom option I very well might pay extra for them and gold tuners, depending on the finish of the bass. :D
