Spector Club Pt. 3 (Insert Clever Title Here)

The difference is headroom. You will not notice a tremendous difference in tone, especially if you're like me and you leave your EQ mostly flat with a very slight boost or cut here & there. It will sound cleaner, I guess, for lack of a better term. Its not a difference your audience will ever notice, but you probably will.

As far as preamps go, you can buy a pre-wired harness for the Aguilar OBP-3 with the bass/treble stacked on one pot and the mids on another pot, which is a push/pull pot for the mid-shift. That plus volume and blend = 4 pots...no drilling. I have a friend with an OBP-3 installed on his Peavey Cirrus and he likes the tone a lot, but says that preamp is a battery eater. I have a EMG BQC installed on my Spector, wired to 18 volts, and I change the batteries twice a year for preventive reasons, but I've never noticed a dying battery. In fact, usually the batteries I pull out of my Spector have quite a bit of life left in them, but I'm too afraid to have them die on me mid-gig. So, the BQCs batteries last through at least 6 months of heavy use IME.

Both the BQC and the OBP-3 are great sounding and very flexible preamps, you would probably be very happy with either one. The BQC is EMG's highest-end preamp, even if the pre in your Legends are EMGs, the BQC would probably still be a big upgrade to what is in the Legends.

hey gang, I just got a 89 Kramer F3 with the Spector setup. Can any of you all tell me what model preamp is in this bass setup?

Alright, thanks for the info!

Im experimenting now with the 2 Legends I have so that i know what I like when i go to order my Euros.

As of right now, I dont do very much with the EQs on my basses, and now that I think of it, not even that much on my head itself.. But I havent managed to be happy with the tones Ive gotten when I recorded, so I trying to find a way to upgrade.

I know it's probably a matter of personal taste, but what would you guys prefer, a 10+ band EQ either in pedal form or in a rack or a 2 or 3 band EQ on the bass?

I have the same preamp in a Kramer Korean import NS2A. I don't know if yours is like this but on mine the volume knobs seem to be swapped compared to most spectors that I've played. The one closest to the neck controls the bridge pickup instead of the neck pup. My cousin has an NS2A Kramer import model and his volume controls are the same as mine.

forgive me not replying yesterday Slacker, yes my volumes are backwards, and was annoying at first, but easy to remember.

I never owned a Spector, only played a couple years ago so only SpectorFanatics would know that the USA's are different than the imports :)

About a month ago I was playing with my old band. I was having a fun time rockin' out when POP! Off goes the strap. As you can see by the photo below, I was beginning to wrap up like a pretzel in my efforts to continue playing.
I have used Schaller strap locks for many years (my Spectors came that way) and I have had this happen more frequently than I would like. So my question is: What do you use and does this ever happen to you?
