Spector Club Pt. 5 (Insert Clever Title Here)

I was cruising Ebay looking to see if anything interesting is there... I do this every few weeks...

And came across this:

OMG! This guy wants $9,999.00 for a Kramer USA NS-2...
I mean... WHAT? I've never seen a Brooklyn NS-2 go for even 1/2 of that.

Either they really don't want to sell it... then why list it... or they are a big fan of P.T. Barnum ("A sucker's born every minute").

It's not original... had Dunlop Strap inserts installed and he said they chipped the clearcoat... and NO CASE???

This is a JOKE right? If this person is on this board. I'll give you $1800.00 for it. TOPS. It's been damaged by having the inserts drilled into the body and it's a normal, run of the mill, Kramer-Spector NS-2.

They could get $2200-$2500 for it if it wasn't for that.

Man! This listing blew my mind. What sort of mushroom tea are they drinking up in Viking land anyway?

Maybe his wife is forcing him to sell it so he puts up a price nobody wants. His wife will think that is the going price for an "antique" item.

If he doesn't get his way and somebody buys it... well.. That's still an epic win.

That bass was posted for sale here a few weeks ago (the add has been deleted) along with a blue NS2 (Kramer, Dave LaRue's old bass) and a natural NS2 (pre-Kramer). I don't know that it's the same seller, but those are the same pics for sure. I think the asking price was a little more reasonable (around $2000) in the TB posting.

Yes, that bass belongs, or did belong recently to someone on this board. I remember it because of it being red with the recessed strap locks. I think it was posted with two other Spectors with it. I don't remember if it was for sale or just for show. I certainly don't remember the original poster asking some ridiculous price like that. I haven't been able to locate the original pic/post.

I think the ad(s) were deleted. I looked for them yesterday and they weren't there, even closed/locked.

After hunting all of juststrings.com and the D'Addario website i have decided I can't get the thick gauge I need in Super Long so i'm just going to go with the thickest GHS Boomers I can find.

THAT'S RIGHT! I remember it now because I was looking at LaRue's bass and thinking about it. Red isn't my thing... and that electric blue is a little loud for my taste as well... I'm pretty basic... black and white...

Funny. One of the original things I liked about Spectors was no silly, funky looking pick guards. I like a clean, minimalist approach to things.

I DO remember that sales post now. That guy must have some crazy stuff going on behind the scenes. It's a shame. That price is too crazy to believe it's a legit attempt to sell it.

I like Jarhead's "making the wife" happy scenareo.

What specifically were you looking for? I remember something about strings a page or so but can't remember now... :hiding:

I've been really busy and missed this whole string discussion. Actually I've been messing with the WW guys the last couple of days. Met some cool cats over there. Trying to get them to see the error of their ways and come over from the Dark Side.

Anyway... I know this is going to sound strange... but I actually like the USA-Made Spector strings.

I have a friend who is a big EMG rep. And at NAMM and other shows they usually grab strings from PJ under the table because they are better than some of the brands they've been told they have to use at shows... You didn't hear that from me... WHAT? Did I say that out loud... MMMmmmm.... cough.

Ah.
Well Rex Brown used C# tuning most of their career and still does w/ Down and used Dean Markley Blue Steel .45-.105s so, worked for him! I have a 5'er coming in that I'm tuning ACGCF (a low G is just too wonky) and I'll probably get a .55-.125 custom set or something.
