ACTUALLY, about 10 pages back i posted a picture of myself and my spector. a few posts later i realized no one had commented much or given out a number, so i post, "so i guess i need to ask for a number...?" no one responded in any way shape or form. didn't find it that big of a deal, didn't care much. then when browsing i see a post by you, then a response, and i respond sarcastically. now you're here watching the thread like a hawk in order to cut down a fellow spector owner in front of all his spector guru friends.
forget the number man. i didn't realize that grown men were so up tight about silly little internet forum clubs.
bring on the drama.
No number and no drama. Done!![]()

So no underwater caged knife-fight to the death?
Awwwwwwwwwww.
And all bets are off!
Spector Rebop modded with the latest ACG "filter" preamp. Looks the same, but dramatic expansion in tonal pallette.
This is a hell of a way to get into a club.
Could you explain for those who don't know (like me), exactly what that is? I would guess that instead of completely overriding the flat tone, it will sort of blend the tone change change in with the original... But I'm probably wrong.
I'm having a real love/hate relationship with the Tonepump right now. During my regular band's gigs, it cuts through three guitars and a loud drummer just fine. It's a blues based hard rock band and the Spector seems to be made just for this situation.
I had to play a country gig last week and just couldn't get a deep, fat tone out of the Tonepump without eq'ing the hell out of the Mesa. I wanted a bit of mid in the tone for definition, but there was just too much. I ended up having to use a really light touch which was pretty hard for me since I usually dig in or play with a pick. I'm ready to perform the Tonedump as soon as I get my hands on a BQC system.
I replaced the tone pump with a bqc system on my ns jh 5 ex, and couldn't be happier. It sounds A LOT better to my ears. I can't imagine why Spector equips these wonderful basses with the preamp which more seem to hate than love.
It's about the money. If people can get a Euro with an Aggie or EMG preamp from the factory, there would be no reason to buy a US Spector.
For those of you who don't know the rules, this thread doesn't allow piddly little pics of your Spectors.

Maybe this will work in the mean time.
