I got mine from an auto supply store, Rustoleum Colorshifting paint, and it was around $22 a can.

Basstovsky said:I took a squier affinity body and sandpapered the surface until the clear coat was what I would call "cloudy," where it wasn't very transparent anymore from all the sanding, to make sure I had sanded the entire surface. I cleaned off the dust and whatnot then sprayed primer directly to it, and the finish came out quite well. Your experience might vary but it worked for me, though I used rustoleum auto primer because its what I had on hand.![]()

- Warmoth neck (providing I can find one inexpensive enough)
Thoughts?
I used to play a P Bass back in the day, and I even still have the body, although the neck is shot. So I figured I'd resurrect the body out of the garage, upgrade it quite a bit, and see how I like it. I wasn't so sure about the color, but I finally found a match. The bass (originally a Fender knockoff) has gold hardware, and is strung through the body, so I'll be using the existing tuners and bridge unless I find something I can upgrade it with that will work with the thru-body bridge that does not also cost me my right and left testicles in the process.
Having a heavy background in illustration, I mocked this up.
- Krylon Ivy Leaf paint
- Original tuners and bridge
- Gold hardware elsewhere (pickguard screws, etc.)
- Seymour Duncan Antiquity II pickups with white covers
- Warmoth neck (providing I can find one inexpensive enough)

Time to break up all these nice-lookin paintjobs with a (comparitively) ugly bass
Previous owner had sanded (HORRIBLY) zakk wylde-esque rings into the body, I had tried smoothing them out and painting them a separate color, but it was just too tacky for me, so i finally dissassembled it and gave it a new paintjob. Its my beater, and testbed for modding, so I don't care too much about looking pretty like most of the previous instruments in this thread. One can of rustoleum hunter green later and it looked much less ugly
