Hi all. I have a question about pickups for my Jag H. Has anyone tried the EMG mmtw? It comes with preamp and everything included. Has switchable built in, and only about $125 Canadian. Seems like a cheap upgrade to me. Does anybody have any experience with it? Thanks for any thoughts on it. DennisO.

I haven't but just looked and it looks like a great solution. The MMCS comes in an cream cover too!

should be a worthy upgrade, my only slight concern is getting all that in the control cavity as its pretty tight.

I had that thought too. Especially since the control plate is smaller than a normal Jazz bass even.

I finally got to try three different Affinity Jaguar basses at a local music store and they were all way to neck heavy. Keep in mind that I have been playing a perfectly balanced Aria Pro II TSB-400 my entire life so I guess I'm a bit spoiled. They also had a Gretch Junior Jet II so I played it and found it to be superior in every way. I will be purchasing one of those instead. Just thought I would chime in with my two cents.

I’d worry about the pots with the circuit board not fitting. Honest my orange bass is stock bar the bartolini pickup change and sounds killer

Didn't even change the pick-up on mine : i changed the strings to Labella Flats & that alone was enough to make it sound incredible.
I replaced the bridge and knobs to mitigate neck-dive, polished the frets, fed the fretboard some lemon oil, shielded the cavities & now it's perfect...
I am still gonna sell if because i am moving soon from Spain to France, and i prefer my other two basses, but yeah whoever gets my bass will get a good one!

Man I wish there was just sliiiightly better access to the 19/20 fret.

This bass fits me like a glove, but sometimes I want to hit that high Dizzle!

I use Cobalt flats long scale without a problem. i just cut the strings as needed.

Out of curiosity, has anyone with a VM Jaguar bass (the OG black and tort one with the stacked varitone tone controls) checked to see if that pickguard will fit the Affinity without much issue? I’d be interested in converting one of these to a straight P bass, and it would be nice to have something that drops in with relative ease. Otherwise the only option would be sending the guard out to have a custom one made.

A few weeks of flirting with this bass, also reading almost this entire thread, here is the result: Charcoal Frost Metallic,

What attracted me most to this bass was the fact that it has a pickup with exposed poles.
Previous owner sent it with the original pickup, but another third-party alnico pickup was installed; result is a very PBsh fat sound (I love).

Came with cut long scale strings, I believe non brand strings; I have already ordered new Rotosound flats medium scale strings.

Perhaps the only mods I will make in the medium term:
- replace pickguard for a white, cream or mintgreen one
- change electrical wiring

Hello everyone,

I'd like to have a couple of measurements if possible:

1. the distance between the front of the nut and front of the pickup,
2. the distance from the end of the bass to the top of the A string tuning key,
3. the distance from the end of the bass to the top of the D string tuning key.

Just pre ordered the metallic orange jaguar h from Sweetwater and am stoked to get it. Plan on modifying it some as I don't keep anything stock. Looking at a Badass II bridge in black, Seymour Duncan smb-4a or smb-4d, and i need to figure out which black tuners to go with, preferably something that drops in. Read the first 25 pages of this thread yesterday. So much information. Look forward to learning from you all.

Hey folks. If anyone here has installed a Sentell B44 pickup on their Jag bass H, i would appreciate if you could kindly share any wiring diagram and components (pots, capacitor etc) used that had the best results sound-wise for your mod. Pretty please.

picked one of these up last week. I put some Ken Smith medium scale stainless rounds on, swapped the knobs for cream ones and swapped the pickup for a chinabucket in white. I thought the stock pickup in parallel sounded really good but so does this new one in series.

swapping the pickup took 4oz off of the weight which is kinda crazy, so the neck dive is worse now but I'll be adding some hipshot ultralites in the next week or two.

even with the pickup screws all the way tightened and less foam, the pickup is sitting a little too, has anyone used a shorter set of screws to get the pickup lower?
