Great comparison vid! After listening to it, I could easily be happy with either the Bill Lawrence P-46 or the Fender Custom Shop '62s.

New parts day for my fiesta red 60's precision!!! Bare Knuckle 65 P pickup, Obsidian True Vintage 58 wire harness with .1uf cap, and a much better looking tortoise pickguard.

This is pure truth they speak. The pickup coupled with TI Flats is the magic secret sauce of these basses, not to mention the great build quality, slab rosewood fingerboard, and perfect neck . you won't find a better Pbass for less than $1000. These basses are almost too good to be true. Ive owned about 7 of these and always regret it and hunt down another. I learned my lesson . They do sound just as good with rounds if that's is your thing. But I would be hesitant to put real high tension flats on it.

You stole that bass at $400. Enjoy it. Ive had no need to change anything from stock except the strings. But mine isn't my daily player either. The pickup is wonderful. I even keep on the cheesy tort pick guard because its part of the charm of these original CV basses. I only wish that I had the Classic Vibe decal on my Pickguard. Love those decals. Might have to try and get one made.

I know we've seen them before but post some pics when you can. Here is mine. Enjoy that bass.

I too had a first year made in China CV-60's P. That is one of the few pickups I have not changed. It was a very nice bass. I ended up trading it and 2 other's for a then new 2011 Fender American Special bass.

Anyone know what size T-Rod wrench size needed for the CV FSR P bass, ISS serial numbers?...and, would it work on an affinity Jazz bass neck too?

Indo CV should be 4mm, as far as fitting your affinity there's a good chance it will BUT it depends on which manufacturer and if it was replaced before you got it.

When I replace a nut I don't worry about the hex side I just make sure to get the correct thread pitch then use the correct size it takes so 4mm, 5mm, 3/16 etc.

I am sadly letting you know that due to long time spent in her pack (I recently purchased an American Performer Precision Bass), my beloved CV70s Precision Bass has been sold to a local fellow bassist who wants to restart his career in a band. I offered the CV70s on a reasonable price so it was an immediate sale. I am sure that she will that fellow bassist happy in the coming years.

Question regarding adding a pickup cover to a CV 60's Jazz:
Recommendations for the treble side screw hole, specifically the fact that it falls right over the routing so there is no lumber for the screw to hit. Pics or links would be a big help.

Interesting, it's like a fender Standard body (control route straight to pickup) I guess you could add a little block but if it were me I would most likely just use a bolt/nut on the pick guard (treble side). Another option would be to use a long enough screw to catch the "shelf" in the route, the PG should be enough to hold.

C Stone, it did end up being 4mm, so I got her tweaked to my liking, thanks! BTW, with a decent set up, this CV P-bass is a killer bass, could use a fret leveling, but it's gig ready none-the-less.

Yep, only your find looks to be in stock condition. Still, if I were in the buying vein, I'd snag my find for the better price, lower shipping cost to my local GC and the pickguard I prefer.

This is all reminding me of an mod-projekt idea I had a ways back; take a CV60's Jazz, snag the pickup from a CV Precision and give it the same "Reggie Hamilton" makeover I had done on my Projekt Blue Jazz.

Oh, that reminds me...Projekt Blue is now rockin' a 2019 Classic Vibe '70s Jazz neck! More and more, I thought the deep, amber tint and it's lovely flamed maple fretboard would be a great complement to the ash-grained blueburst, so violà!

Update: i switched back to the original pickups on my 'quartersawn neck' CV '60.
After testing it with EMG Gzr's and a Dimarzio Model I switched back to the originals. They just sound great with the band. The only worthy upgrade I made is a new bridge.
