Stage attire

I wear black sneakers with memory foam insoles. I tried wearing boots for a while, when I was on the road. It didn't work for me at all. They have been in the box ever since.

I have never found a boot that fits. Ever.
Now with an arthritic big toe I wear Merrels even with a suit to funerals and weddings. Just don't wear white, but other than that who appoints the shoe police anyway? Especially designating specific brands old people shoes. Let's Go Hipster shoe fashionistas.

I bought a pair of Dr. Martens. «For Life» boots about 12 years ago. When one pair is worn out, I get a new pair for free, minus shipping and handling.

I bought a pair of Docs (11 hole...) in the mid-1980s. If it hadn't been for the fire in 2017 I would still have that pair. Granted I don't wear them every day, but at the beginning they were worn a lot. Amazing what some dubbing and polish can do for good leather.

My go-to gig shoes are my trusty and well-worn Redwing 899 work boots. The same ones I spend all day cutting firewood in, weed-eating acres of land, doing automotive work, working on my tractor, garden work, wearing to the office... Occasionally I even clean and oil them.

They work well with jeans and the "technical" (think mountain sports, not tacti-cool) and/or work pants I usually wear.

The audience didn’t come to see their neighbours on stage. It’s a show. Wear what “works” with the genre / venue / music. Google the group that “represents “ what you have going. Copy it ???

Time was everyone dressed for gigs, even in crappy little joints I started out in, but Punk and Grunge plus poopy pay have changed all of that. Foot wear I usually just wear my silly tropical print Crocs, hey they were on sale cheap.

You CAN wear dress shoes with jeans. No problem.

I try to wear black shoes or slip-ons.

Anything... Depending on the gig, I wear boots, loafers, or tennis shoes. I even wear wingtip high tops(practically boots with the right hat... That's one of them the picture.

If you have less than really dressy dress clothes, wear it. I'm playing a gig tonight in kakis, loafers, a Hawaiian shurt and a panama hat... The rest of the band dresses kind of western... Sometimes I dress like them.

You're the bass player, you can be a litt different.
