I love my 2007 SR5HH. It weighs about what yours does and is close to 1.5 pounds heavier than my Stingray Special 5HH, but it has its own character that makes it worth having both to me.Just weighed my 2007 SR5HH. I always thought it weighed 9.5 lbs. but it came up 9.8 lbs. It's a little heavy for me nowadays but it's not a bad being a non-Special SR5. Plus it balances very well.
I've said quite a few times that they're effectively my co- number one basses, but I've also acknowledged that I give the 2007 a slight edge. That extra snarl it gets from having the Sterling preamp and the Sterling 5's ceramic pickups sounds great on my band's playlist.
And, as you said, it also balances well so the extra weight isn't a problem. But that may also be because I'm also used to playing my L-2500 for four sets and that's even heavier than my 2007, which feels lighter in comparison. I don't play the L because of the weight, but in spite of it.
Well, DIDN'T play.... Having just bought a Big Al 5, I'm now planning to sell the L-2500.
