I forget the model number but it disconnects the battery turning off the preamp when you unplug your bass. You could get away with a stereo jack but the battery will be on even when the bass is unplugged. Ernie Ball sells the right jack that's where I got mine.

what does a switching jack have to do with the voltage leakage? the jack doesn't matter. both diagrams complete the same circuit when the bass is plugged in

I don't understand what you mean by voltage leakage? I'm guessing you have the wrong jack or the jack is wired up wrong. That preamp uses a special switchcraft jack that makes and breaks a connection to the battery B+. Notice the 4 solder lugs in the layout I posted? I forget the model switchcraft jack but it's not a standard stereo or mono. You can get them from Ernie Ball, I did.

Wow. Way more interest than I expected. I've only got enough photoetch board for a dozen or so, but will be able to get more on Monday. Might have to do a second batch later on in the week.

Will PM everyone who's let me know they're interested with a status update before end of Sunday to confirm details.

:eek: WOW it went from 1 board for me to a couple hundred in a few days! This board definitely has a market. Ernie Ball just reissued the classic StingRay bass with the same vintage 2 band preamp.

Hmmm.

We have a board:

but I'm not happy with it. The software I used uses very small pads for the library components and it's going to be a bear to drill and solder:

Might be better to grab another board and redo it right.

I noticed the small pads too. I've been playing with your schematic in Gimp - thickening the pads and some runs.

BTW, does your board measure .8" x 2" ?
