I always prefer my p bass too. All maple '74 with flats. I don't want to sell it but if I keep fighting it, it's got to go. Still on the fence with that aria, still needs a fresher set of strings. Going to do sown string swapping tonight maybe.

This my exact thought. Every time I get ready to sell it, I stop. But really I just don't like how it sounds when it comes down to it.

I have sentimental attachement to it, as when I first started playing my dream bass was a Ric, and then I bought mine when I grauduated college. But after the honeymood period was over, I've been struggling with the tone ever since.

If the neck didn't play so great it would be an easier call, but it really does feel fantastic.

Those basses are sleepers. Instant '70s mojo on a budget. One came up in town at GC ($300, '76) and sold before I could get down there (saw it online and drove down)

This was before I bought the Carvin when I was looking for something lighter than the OLP.

Yeah they came out pretty cool. We also had a full amp wall shot, but the stacked heads closeup was just too cool.

I'm the exact same way! Wanted a ric for years then bought the first one (walnut) by saving every dime of cover band money for a year and a half. That band broke up shortly after i bought i so set it up for drop c. When i started another cover band i wanted another one for standard (white) and one popped up in town so I bought it. I've been fighting the white one tonally in a band situation for a minute. Really wish I had my Genz back right now to do more knob turning and string swapping.

+1 I could kiss my Ibanez Roadstar Pj, I love it so much!!! I hardly use the j part of the Pj, but it's there when I want it. And had so many nice Japanese guitars and basses over the years, I always jones for Gibson basses, but love getting my paws on Vintage Japanese instruments!!!
