Yeah, but I grew up going up to Berkeley to watch them lose at football, not win at rugby.
How does that happen? I know they are totally different, but why isn't the football coach grabbing Rugby muscle?
I've wondered that for many years. ESPECIALLY at the punter position. You've got guys who are 6'4" 230 lbs that can punt a ball 60 meters, run a ball like a TB and hit like a LB.
If yo get a chance, check out Jonah Lomu on Youtube. He played for New Zealand and was just a beast. Imagine a bigger, stronger, Bo Jackson.
My sister played rugby in high school (on the women's team, obviously). Some of the football players did, on the men's team.
From what she said about her observations, the best football players often didn't make the best rugby players, and vice versa. Apparently rugby seems to favor people who are a bit more compact than American football does.
That sort of made sense to me, because from going to her rugby games, there seems to be a lot less specialization as far as position goes, in rugby than in American football.
Like a team of 260lb fullbacks that can tackle...?

Except to some degree the actual tackling is quite different. There are rules governing how you can do it in rugby, different from how football governs tackling, that actually make football instincts detrimental in rugby.
Also, play doesn't stop nearly as often, there aren't nearly as many substitutions, etc. All of which combine to apparently make it more different than it would at first appear.
From what I've seen, rugby players tend just not to be nearly as huge as football players, in general.

Quick question for my DOOM Brethren...
There's an Acoustic 450 head sitting in a local guitar shop - has original amp cover, footswitch and manual. Any idea what a reasonable price would be?
...then I take that price and double it for a fair price in Australia.
The shop owner encouraged me to borrow it and give it a shot. I don't want to until I know I've got the money to buy it. Otherwise I'll get all disappointed when I fall in love with it, 'cause I know I will.

How much is the guitar shop asking for it? A fair price on those in the states would be somewhere in the ballpark of $200-$300, I'd say. Try offering $450?
So, I went back to the shop and asked about the cracks. He finally gave up that it had been repaired. Headstock cracked right off and was glued back on. Yikes. And I was totally wrong, he want's $2000 for it. I think I'll pass. Ron, you got a new PM.

Octave pedals...Now I'm wondering about octave pedals, again, I've thought about them before but forget about them. I want a massive punch you in the balls bass blast for certain riffs, will a down octave do that?
Behringer makes ones that are similar to the OC-2 and OC-3 by the looks anyway, and wont hurt the wallet to try out if it works for me.

So small update. I had 8 basses, 5 amps and used 1 cab for the shoot out. I used a scale of 1-5 (5 being the best) and I'm all done with the testing. Results, all my notes, and a couple pics tomorrow. Going to dump the numbers into excel after i get cleaned up. Did the whole shoot out and still in my dirty azz work clothes.
I'd give him 3 hens teeth and a live tasmanian tiger.
I have honestly never seen an acoustic amp in Australia,let alone in bendigoat.
Oh and guys,what is this, the 'lets talk about beers and football thread'?
