I think in my mind I wanted tube amps for guitar and bass for the natural overdrive sound, but the truth is I think I dig them more for the warmth and the shimmer they add. I end up putting the warmest preamp tubes in for headroom in the end. I think I dig pedal sounds the best for dirt. I dig the natural breakup, but I always go back to the pedals for dirt tones.

The BT500 has some really great natural overdrive, but it's not really switchable. But I really dig the sound of the preamp they have in those.

My BT1000 has been currently switched over for 240v operation, but once I get back a tech is going to make it so it will be switchable back and forth between 110/240.

The point is, now that I can't use it, I miss it.

You may figure out something I didn't! Don't forget 90% of my gigs are on upright, so I wasn't really trying that hard to get the best dirt out of the Genz amps...on bass guitar gigs I set my Pork Loin pedal to a pretty subtle degree and that works good enough for the kind of gigs I've been getting :)

+1. Most people seem to think of SS for clean and tube for dirt, but the right clean all tube amp is the best sounding thing in the world, IMO

Rooting for a team that usually loses during one's childhood is a great way of learning lessons about not always being able to get what you want. Or rather, never being able to get what you want.

Probably. As far as loser teams go, I grew up rooting for the Cal Bears (college football). For most of my youth, the entire 1990's, pretty much, they were utterly terrible. They almost always lost. So, naturally, I got used to it and it didn't bother me so much when they would lose, as it was the expected result. I apply that to pretty much all sports teams I like. Defeat is the expected result, victory is more of a happy surprise.

Dude, I grew up in Tampa. Don't get me started on football... Vinnie Testaverde anyone?

And we had Steve Young and traded him away... and just about every other good player we ever had until that magical '02 season... the only season as far as I am concerned ;)

My football career, which consisted of 6-9th grade, record was 1-28-2. I know how to lose...

My little cousin bawls if he loses a board game, granted hes 5, but kids need to learn how to lose, this everyones a winner is bullshvt.

Shvt Happens, people need to learn that.

Once I cried when Cal lost. My dad got mad at me for doing so, proclaiming that only USC fans and Yankees fans cry when their team loses.

I won't mention the fact that Cal has won like 27 out of the last 32(?) National Championships for Rugby.

Total dynasty, on a par with the Yankees and Mount Union football.
