Behringer makes ones that are similar to the OC-2 and OC-3 by the looks anyway, and wont hurt the wallet to try out if it works for me.

Not to concerned with tracking because I'll just be doing single notes and tonz of fuzz after.

Skip the oc-2, not so hot with bass, I have had a ton of octaves. Your cheapest route with good tracking and you don't mind digital is a Digitech Bass Synth Wah, if you want good tracking and analog, get you a used MXR Bass Octave or the MXR Octave Fuzz, I love my octave fuzz pedal, love it, love it

Is that the big muff with clean blend?

That reminds me of a question I have. Is it hard to add a clean blend mod to a pedal kit? I've been looking at some of the build your own pedal kits, but I'd want to throw a clean blend circuit into the mix.

Can anyone point me to a clean blend circuit diagram?

A clean blend can be added to any circuit.

If you can tell us what circuit you're thinking of then I'm sure we could come up with a better fit for that particular circuit.

Also, the bass big muff deluxe is not a simple clean blend. It has a crossover network so only the high get clipped. It also has a noise gate which most muff style pedals surely need.

It may not be boutique but it sounded amazing!!!!!!!

Hey stoner/doomer guys, normally I don't find myself on this side of the tracks but it looks like I'm going to be filling in for a doom/sludge band for several months, including a possible EP and tour.

I use a Zoom B3 for most of my effects but I've also got my requisite Bass Big Muff Pi and Digitech Bass Synth Wah. All running through a PF-500 into a GK 410 (I know, no 15s here). Any recommended settings you guys use to sound as huge and deep as possible with any of these?

Main influences are Melvins, Black Flag, Kyuss and Bongripper (great name :P)

15s arent a requirement...I would say look into a different fuzz or something, Zooms have crap distortion IMHO, and a Big Muff Pi sounds good but that mid scoop just makes you lost in the mix.

And maybe depending on what the other guys are playing with add some 15s:bassist:

Knowing your budget and bass you use would help.

Those areas where the glue soaked in the wood should be lighter when you stain it.... The stain won't soak into the glue. Fillers are the same situation. Because of the glue in them filled spots show up lighter.

I took to using my bbm in the bass boost mode. Got rid of it once I got my bluebeard.

What bass you using?

Personally I just set gain where it's starting to break up and push the high and low boosts and set everything at noon on most ampeg stuff. Might wanna get an 810.... I'm a 10" speaker guy, so is Ron. I get most of get my deep and dark from my T-bird and fridge.

Yeah I've never liked the distortions on bass multi effect units.

+1 bass & budget. We can help you spent a few grand on a sweet rig.:bassist:

Sorry forgot about the bass, I'm using a Fender Power Jazz Special, MIJ from the 80s. I'm thinking of using just the P pickup in passive mode, but it does have an active bass boost circuit that I might use too, but definitely just using the P pickup.

I could drop 3-4 hundred on some kind of OD pedal, Dr Scientist the Elements looks really nice. I also just got one of those little Behringer EQs that can get LOUD and LOW, might be using that for something.

Elements is great! Ive had GAS for a white on white one for awhile. But if you can spend $300-400...I would have him make you a dual Elements, since theyre great for slight OD all the way into DOOM fuzz and everywhere in between.

Or there is always something from our inhouse wizard Mr Dunwich...

I'm sort of the odd one out here, as I don't use pedals for my basic overdrive sound. I know the PF-500 is solid-state, but how does it sound if you turn the gain all the way up, or most of the way up?

As far as the GK 410 goes, if it has a tweeter, turn the tweeter off or disconnect it. You don't necessarily need 15" cabs, but you might want more than just a 410. Try getting another one and stacking them, or get a 215 as well.

I'm again the odd one out in some ways, since I tend not to have that deep sounding a bass sound, despite the low tuning. I just turn down the treble a bit, crank up the mids for maximum gank and horribleness, and boost the lows a bit depending what cab I'm using.

How much gain and fuzz to use kinda depends on the overall sound of the rest of the band, as does EQ. My approach maybe wouldn't work in your band, or maybe it would. Depends what else is going on.

Thanks for the advice, the PF-500 breaks up nicely with a lot of gain. Unfortunately, it clips very easily, so it is often a lot easier to "trick" it with pedals. Not very technical I know, but it does seem to work. If I don't use the amp's compression I can get a lot more gain, so I'll try that...

Good tip on the tweeter, I hadn't thought about that! I'm usually in genres where clarity matters above all like prog and funk, so I guess I should re-evaluate how much treble I use.

Of course all this is just speculation until I actually have my first practice with these guys, but I have something to start with at least, thanks guys!
