I bought 2 packs of Blue Steels a long time ago and broke a D string a few days after having them on my bass. Then when I changed the D string, a day later the G string broke. I`m not exactly heavy handed either. That was the only time I`ve ever broke a bass string.

That was the first and last time I used Blue Steels.

I used to break them a lot and stopped playing them, but that was years ago. I tried them again somewhat recently and had no breakage problems, but I still stick to DRs.








In other news, I reached out to a pretty big band today that's looking for a bassist. I assume I'll never hear back from them, but you never know I guess.

"Standard" body shape
All aluminum construction
Single humbucker in the p bass position
34.5" scale
7.5" fretboard radius
Block inlays
Hipshot string through/top loading bridge
Anodized finish with a pickguard (still need to decide what color combo that'll be though).
And setup for the Bongripper low F tuning/string gauge.

The Duchess o rock has to take a bible class to finish up a degree because of the college she's going to...as an assignment they have to watch that History Channel series The Bible...made me sit through part of an episode...try surviving that...Cheese knob set to stun

Fun Fact:

I tried to get in Russian Circles when their first bassist left, they got back to me and were real nice dudes. But informed me they had already gotten Brian Cook to be in the band by the time I inquired.

They made the right choice, and really it worked out for me too. Really dig their last record, Cook is always a monster in whatever band he plays in.

Aluminum. It'll depend on what finish I go with whether it'll be polished or brushed though.

I'm either gonna go (not the official names, but best color descriptions)

Matte Silver - Black PG
Matte dark grey - Matte Silver PG
Matte dark grey - black PG

If I go the matte silver (aluminum I'd have the whole body done that was, ie non-polished fretboard/neck) the other finish options I'd go for the polished neck to contrast.

That's pretty cool that they bothered to get back to you. It's not a hard thing - a simple "hey, thanks for the interest but we're all set" - but it's so seldom done.
