Stoner/Doom Bassists 54: Big Cabs and Nerd Bombs

Man I caught the dreaded stomach bug of Doom and havd a 7 hour drive back home tomorrow, argh! On a happier note I took my girlfriend and Micah Chicken Neck to their first Drive In Movie, we saw The Croods and Oz last night, such a cool location too, in the valley next to the river. Haven't been to the drive-in in like over 20 years.

Heard our name on the local radio, and they said more than one word. Some along the lines of "VEGA, a new Milwaukee band", Ill take that as a win because they didnt just list us off as just another band.

Also i messed up a bit but, no one really noticed, good

It doesn't matter how much you're spending on promo. The artist still needs to get paid for his work. However, since the work is already done(not custom) and it's just for a single event poster....payment shouldn't be too much.

For sure.

For bands of our size...well, most of us...we really aren't making much, if any, money for this. I would explain to the artist your expectations and mention that you'd be willing to help advertise his art, by maybe, tagging him in the FB flyer, or something, but that no real money is to be made from this whole ordeal.

A co-op might be a good thing to go into in this situation.

I didn't want to get too pushy, but I'll send a follow up email tomorrow, if I haven't heard anything.

I did explain that we are a band starting out, playing original music and I felt like the image represented us as a band. Since we aren't selling anything with the image on it, I offerred to advertise his website and whatever.

I approached the situation with common sense and common decency. I wouldn't want to log onto the computer and hear someone else playing Blood Eagle, so I totally get that. I mean, I did ask, afterall.

Corey hooked us up with our first artwork, and I am eternally grateful for that. I got some more art sone up by a buddy who was in a really good crusty rock and roll band that had broke up. He's been looking for the right dudes and recently hookedup with an Ozzy era Sabbath Tribute band (the singer looks just like Ozzy did back i the day). He did up the crossing rifles for us. The other image I'm trying to use, is a civil war zombie. If you google this, you can probably figure out which image I was looking to use. Anywho, I had all kinds of people volunteer to make something for us, so far, we have two things. lol.

With my guitar player's impending wrist surgery, not sure we are going to be able to get the funds by summer to do any kind of vinyl... which sucks.

We did find someone local who will do some recordings for $100. Not sure what that all includes, but we aren't even ready for that yet. The last show and the next show, we are making zero, so there really is no band budget to speak of. I told my drummer that I am ready to try my hand at drawing up something (and I suck).
