and man, i can't believe i've never rocked High on Fire much before. 10,000 Years is one of the heaviest riffs ever. i realise this is old news to most of you haha

That's 2001 for me, but it's never too late to enjoy good tunes.

I really can't think of a good example of a band who has been able to put out a record that was as good or even comparable to their heyday material 20+ years after the fact.

I guess I just expected something more finished and bullet proof. I know tube amps have inherent maintenance, this isn't my first rodeo, but I've owned my JMP for almost 10 years and the Matamp is dangerously close to having been in the shop the same number of times

Yeah, a new custom amp shouldn't be that much of a maintenance hog.

My amp's 30 years old, I've had it for three years, and recently was the only time it's required major work.

Hell no.

As far as liking Metallica goes, I'm pretty tolerant of their less metallic stuff, I even like a couple of the songs on Load/Reload, and didn't hate Death Magnetic.


But St. Anger... no... just no. I can't even think of an album I hate more.

Do you mean after a long gap, or a continuous career?

I actually like Iron Maiden's Brave New World and Dance of Death more as whole albums than any of their 80's LPs.

I like Celtic Frost's Monotheist album more than any of their old releases.

Not metal, but I enjoy Battlefield Band's albums from about 2000 on better than their 70's or 80's material.

So I do think it happens... just not very often.
