tonal difference? thats up to you but you will increase gain/volume since there is about a 5-8 dB insertion loss across the band. Generally the mid cut which is in those EQs would vanish and you would have an apparent increase in mids overall, somewhere around 1k Hz, which is where the cut is at say half way on the tone control.

Well.. then that sounds more drastic than I expected! Might have to look into it after I've played with it a bit

I made these calculations based on GGG tuned muff stack component values so i believe its fairly accurate. The biggest thing is how much source impedance comes from the previous stage, you will get more boost if the previous stage has higher impedance. It should be useful either way.

Like others said, it's worth it. When I bought mine 4 years ago or so, Sonny was selling them for something like $145 $150? So you're paying $20 to not wait 6+ months for one to be built. Plus I can borrow yours and have mine etched!

Never even heard of that Blue Velvet movie, but Eastern Promises is the ****ing ****. I love that movie. Viggo is one of my favorite actors and he was incredible in that.

Does anyone run their Bluebeard at full gain and say man I wish I had more gain? I run my gain completely rolled off because anything more than 25% and everything will start to feedback whine like crazy. Goodbye dynamics. I also have never lacked mids, ever. So Nick I wouldn't concern yourself with not having the tone bypass.

Plus, Sonny will tell you exactly what to do if you want to mod the pedal yourself. Drill a hole, install switch, connect wires, boom. You've heard mine so you know how they sound. I'm sure the tone bypass is nice, but the "bluebeard sound" that everyone loves existed for years before Sonny installed the bypass!

So, since it seems like my old, failing body won't allow me to play bass much (as it stands), or guitar, what the heck am I gonna play for my music fix?

I was contemplating drums, but I have tendonitis in both thumbs that flares up when I have to grip things, so I'm leery of trying them.

I could buy a keyboard to make beepy/synthy noises....or heavy faux electric bass.

Ha you threw out half his movies as "not Cronenburg" eXistenZ is more Videodrome like, very much the melding of body and technology ,like the Fly too, a reoccuring theme in his early stuff.

I always figured that if I ever lost an arm in a freak accident I'd either play one armed drums or fuzzed out bass lines on a keyboard.

Maybe look into a Fender Rhodes? I hear they're pretty neat.

I would definitely love to have a big old crazy organ fill up sonic space in my band.

to me the tone bypass is louder and like Nick said you get a boost in the 1Khz area. To my ears it changes the character of the pedal and gets it closer to a Grey Stache (more sizzle and bite). I find it useful in boomy rooms as well or if you ever have to play through a dark sounding cab like the SLM 810Es.

Hmmm. Seems like the vote is for keys. the thing that is cool about them is they can do pretty heavy tones, the bad thing is...well...you're not very doom-y sitting behind the keys.

Jon Lord being the exception. And the dude from Rammstein being the example.
