Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

There's only one food I will not eat, hate, doesn't matter how you cool it, green/string beans. Something about the texture. I will cook them fresh and get lots of compliments, taste them while I'm cooking to make sure they're ok, spit it out and wash my mouth out. Always hated them since day one, it's the only picky eating thing I never grew out of and I wasn't a very picky eater as a kid. Everything else is in play...raw oysters, squid, fish, all kinds of sushi, all kinds of veggies and fruits, game meats, stinky cheese. I'm a pretty adventurous eater overall or at least open to trying things.

I dont like pickles/cucumber. Some how the combination of crunchy/slimy texture doesnt sit with me.

I try them frequently though. I am all about reaffirming that I dont like them.

Custom Dunwich pedal incoming tomorrow, according to USPS tracking.

nice! I get to give the Wizard Fuzz a go for the first time at practice tonight, then I'll have it at our gig on Saturday. Played around with the WF for a while at home and so far I like the medium gain sounds with the treble rolled back to about 9 o'clock. We'll see how that works in the mix.

Sweet, I love my Wizard Fuzz, though more so on guitar most of the time. Nick made me a custom Cthulhu Deluxe Fuzz, with a bunch more controls and some clean blend or parallel blend loop. I'm super excited to play around with it, as it's pretty much designed for the specific way I like to setup my rig/tone with the Cthulhu on my board, but in one pedal.

how different is the tone of the Cthulhu from the WF?

Also I bit the bullet and picked up another B3K. It really isn't my thing but it was the only pedal that I have ever tried that was able to get me the sound of a pick attack without actually using a pick and we have a bunch of songs that just suit that tone.

Pretty different, the Wizard is kind of a like a boost/OD into a double Muff, with all the depth and baxandall tonestack stuff. Simplification I'm sure, Nick could probably give a detailed explanation. The Cthulhu is sort of a hot rodded Fuzz Face.

The Deluxe model he designed for me is essentially one pedal to replace the 3 pedals on the left for this setup:

I hate pickles or anything with excess vinegar. For some reason vinegar is the most foul substance to me. I'd rather drink gasoline.

The only foods I will put my nose up to are organs. If it involved me eating organs, like sucking lobster/crawfish heads, oysters or insects, it ain't happenin.

I love pickled garlic and well prepared sweetbreads or meat pies (organs/glands). I had two different dishes at two different restaurants in Monterey and Pacific Grove in the last year that were made with sweetbreads and wild mushrooms that were crazy good. I'm not that big on liver, but with most things I think it's all how it's prepared. One of those places also had beef marrow with roasted garlic and that was delicious.

Corey, I enjoy listening to your soundcloud better than most full albums!

I'm completely screwed up food wise.
I don't eat fish. At all. But I love fish fingers and other stuff that don't taste like fish :D
I hate mayo. But I eat it in burgers and love it.
I wouldn't touch olives with a long stick. But I love them on pizza and in Subway sandwiches. Same with cucumbers. Except pickles. I love pickles.
Go figure.

Also:
Found out about this band lately. One of the few Polish bands I really dig recently.

When people say they don't like any fish, I assume they were raised on hot dogs and chicken nuggets. Then again, I live on the coast and there's always fresh seafood here.

Welcome back Sartori.
Thanks

As to fish... when I was a little kid, I loved it. Then something switched and I hated it. I don't understand how that happened, but it did, which is too bad.
