Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Pretty different, the Wizard is kind of a like a boost/OD into a double Muff, with all the depth and baxandall tonestack stuff. Simplification I'm sure, Nick could probably give a detailed explanation. The Cthulhu is sort of a hot rodded Fuzz Face.

The Deluxe model he designed for me is essentially one pedal to replace the 3 pedals on the left for this setup:

To get this tone:

this is a more-pedal version of what i'm doing too, cthulhu fuzz on the bridge, and clean or bluebeard on the neck. i really like having no pedals before the cthulhu so i can roll the volume back on my treble pickup for an 'overdrive' sound. turned all the way up it is a screaming nightmare and i love it. plus i always have a thick low end. yum.

i'm using a clean/RAT setup for my other band too.. makes me want a Volt Thrower..

+1 for loving seafood when it's done right. Ate some good stuff when I was in Nawlins over new years.
Now that you mention it, I remember fragments of a night back in Hong Kong last year where I ate some crazy sushi at a secret restaurant.

Went to meet up with a friend who works there and he took us out for drinks. We went to some bar where all they served was chicken skewers. While there we bumped into one of his mates who happens to be this ridiculously loaded kid whose parents own a whole bunch of factories on the mainland. So we all introduce ourselves and Champo starts shouting us bottles of top shelf Sake. So we're smashing sake and chicken skewers on the street, because we're tourists and we're poopie at being civilised human beings, until rich Champo offers to take us to a REAL restaurant.

So whatever, we're down like four bottles of Sake at this point and I could keep eating so lets roll. Champo ends up taking us through the creepiest, filthiest alleys around town that I thought he was gonna steal our kidneys or something. We finally hit a dead end and we're all just looking at each other like "Ok so this is how we're gonna die then". Champo, no poopie, puts his hands up against one of the walls on the side of the alley and actually pushes the wall to the side exposing an entrance to a restaurant.

Apparently its one of the most upper class sushi restaurants in Hong Kong and its strictly by invitation but because Champo bleeds gold, he gets VIP access anytime. Most of the fish was deep sea poopie including Anglerfish and deep sea eel. I'll be honest, I don't remember half the poopie I was eating but I remember seeing an Anglerfish head on a plate and I just couldn't handle life anymore but I ate it anyway.

We also smashed like three bottles of premium Japanese whiskey too. All up the bill came to about $7,000 USD and Champo paid it for us.

@Niff we may be intercontinental tone bros for real.

Yes. Crab legs and steak is a New Year tradition for my ladies fam.

liking the looks of the new SR750 from Ibanez
never owned an ibanez but played a few and seems like you get a lot of bass for what you pay.

That's cool. It's about time they made a mid level PJ. I would be on that if I wouldn't have to figure out what to do with the extra holes after I rip that pre out and make it passive.
