Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

how different is the tone of the Cthulhu from the WF?

Also I bit the bullet and picked up another B3K. It really isn't my thing but it was the only pedal that I have ever tried that was able to get me the sound of a pick attack without actually using a pick and we have a bunch of songs that just suit that tone.

Id say its more in line with a muff but the design is like a bunch of different types of gain stages, JFET, FET, BJT, and various EQ stuff. So its kind of a mix of sounds. CF is in the range of a modified FF

Thanks for the signal chain tip Cory. LS-2 will be sourced soon. I like the Cthulhu tone but soon as I turn up it wants to rip everyone's head off.

If you want to perma tame the feedback on the Cthulhu, open it up and find the wire going from the 3PDT to the input of the board, replace that with a resistor, like 10k-100k and it will bump the gain down a bit and decrease the feedback a ton.

On the CF Deluxe I added a Fuzz and Drive control, Fuzz to control actual gain of the first circuit, and Drive which emulates turning down your guitar volume into the pedal. They have different overall effects to the sound.

Its basically as you guys say. Its a huge sub. Big enough it makes my verellen clip and my dually fart out at the lowest settings. The biggest problem i run into is that theres a huge volume drop when you have the sub turned up, but that may be just because its below hearing range and my dually isnt tuned low enough for the hZ.

Heres a little demo i did. The first parts clean. Second parts with 30 and 60 hz cranked and the sub at 1/4 and then the last parts everything cranked then sweeping the sub boost with my exp pedal.

Dunwich general updates: We are currently building the 4 main units (CF, VT, WF, HM2) to stock up. Once they are complete they will go up for sale. Not sure on total numbers but more than last time for each pedal. Currently delayed by the enclosure guy who is dragging ass

Once those begin selling we will move ODB, DA120OD, and FT into production along a similar path. Still gathering art and overall designs for these units. ODB and FT are designed and tested, 100% a go. DA120OD I am finally getting together for my last prototype.

The DA120 OD will now have a clean-ish blend, the signal will go Input - JFET gain stage to op amp mixer for the blend so it should have a bit of EQ'ing and smidge of coloration from the JFET stage before being mixed into the heavy distortion/overdrive tone from the main circuit.

I used the Dunwich nuke boost like a bass drop last night. On accident actually when I missed the fuzz next to it, Sounded awesome. Also I have been fighting my white p bass in the band and finally gave up. Took a few basses last night and favored the ric. Thought the Jazz I brought would win out but sounded kinda thin. The ric was kinda best of both, thick and with a little cut. Now I need to find the right string. 105 is too floppy in drop c on the ric. Going to take the damn near fresh set of 110 off the white p and throw them on the white ric. One of these days I just might finalize my rig for this rock band.

Like, like, double quadruple infinity like. I need me an ODB officially replace all my most used pedal tones with Dunwich.
