Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Listened to the song that's streaming on The Obelisk - seriously impressive. Might have to grab the disc.
I was listening to that first track probably half a dozen times yesterday afternoon. The full album is up on Bandcamp, I'm listening to it now. The mixing on it is really good, I'm digging the bass tone and how it's sitting in the mix. I wish there were less clean tones, but that's just my feelings on life in general.
Cool, I'll have to listen to the whole thing. I dug live-in-the-studio-ish sound of Dead Roots (that click of the amp turning on at the beginning - awesome), but the production on the new one definitely seems to be a step up from the last one. Everything seems to be a step up from the last one.
Stoopid question - I'm thinking Stoner/Doom needs two guitars. Having to cover the rhythm part on bass during the leads wouldn't sound like Stoner/Doom methinks? I like to stay down in the earthquake octave myself

I dont think there is any requirement. If there is more space to play, use it.

Why? Second guitarist is more drama and more cancelled practices. I got all of this from my drummer, thank you. I'll keep my single one
But seriously, it's just more space to explore and make yourself heard. It's fun!

I like my stoner-doom/garage-punk/posthardcore band with NO guitars. But then again I am kind of social tard and have no charisma, no leadership & communication skills, nor any time and patience to deal with lead guitar players.
Or any of their bullsh!t.

There's definitely no rules, since these genres are really like 10 sub-genres, but lots of prototypical Stoner/Doom type bands are 3 or 4 pieces with one guitar. It doesn't necessarily dictate overall sound/musical approach either. Weedeater and Church of Misery are both single guitar bands and they have very different approaches to the overall sound of the band, arrangements of songs and the way the instruments interact with each other.

Snowed in again. Cleaning house and reformed the stack. Butcher on the dually is awesome, as as was the 400 into the bassic. Time to try the butcher as a guitar amp with the 4x10 columns, once stuff gets put away.

Everything was melted and gone yesterday, this mornings snow is still coming down.
Just about the same thing happened here, most of the snow melted, then we got 8 inches. Like it had to clean up before more snow could be laid down.
