Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Ready for tonight.

how is the blue beard treating you?

thanks man!

You can get much better quality audio over on bandcamp...and vinyl :)

Vinyl! Hey lookit--I'm strictly a 180 Gram man!

Seriously though, my turntable, along with most everything else I owned (including 100% of my vinyl!) was killed in a flood a few years back. My dad is quite the (jazz/classical) audiophile and he is giving me his entire stereo system which includes some KILLER components and speakers.

I can't wait to get it all set up and defile & befoul it with some evilness...

Since the flood I have been collecting a few choice albums (new and used both) on vinyl, so I will be ready to go.

I will definitely be clicking on your swag link (no homo...)

Probably the wrong crowd, but anyone ever play a violin "Beatle" bass with stainless or other bright rounds?

Dunno if he recorded the track with it, but still my favorite band of the 21st century. You want to talk retro rock, these guys killed it. I have bootlegs of them covering Led Zeppelin II and Band of Gypsys in their entirety. Also the reason I want a Hofner. Like...Beatle Bass into SUNN stacks? Um, yes.

Dude! I just listened to "Journey Into Parts Unknown' !!! Effin' killer! Kickass take on "Godzilla" too! I bet MDT is a blast to see live. Dang. Nice work, seriously mang...

Tnx! We're built for dive bar/club sets so we try to take a variety of different influences and filter it all thru fuzz.

Man, just listened to Gojira, made me remember how much I love that BOC song and now I want to cover that song. That was a fvcking killer version. Also the pics of the Green 'Ric' on your FB page look freakin' sweet.

Also finally jamming with some dudes again. Just some basic blues/psych stuff. Hendrix, James Gang, Cream, Bubble Puppy, The Who. I forgot what a sweet, sweet tone a healthy Sunn into it's matched JBL loaded cab sounds, it's been a while since I've really put any of them through their paces. We had some outdoor jams today, cause it's finally above 50 degrees, and most people are gone on break. A friend a couple blocks away said they could hear us pretty clearly; the Sunn was on 1.5 on the volume knob. Now that's power. Taking it to 5 was shaking the deck. Dang it feels good (literally, it's a nice back massage).

Tnx. 'zilla was fun to cover. We got a wild hair to do it after seeing the movie last summer. Did all of it in five days.

The Green Machine is awesome, sounds even gnarlier than it looks.

Re: Beatle bass, they feel like toys, IMO.

I've always wanted to try a violin style bass. Personally I think any kind of bass can sound good, if you accept what its sound is and build everything else around it. I'd be slightly nervous I would destroy a violin bass in a live scenario though.

On the subject of that video, that drummer is my hero for having a giant purple sparkle Ludwig kit.

On 2nd thought, I think @mc_muench should rock 'henge with a Beatle Bass.
