Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

going to alleva coppolo in upland to hang out, please do not kidnap my basset hound or desecrate my ganesh sculpture in LA, the sleep deprivation is hitting me hard and i might regret wearing the red james brown boots and the sparkly cowboy shirt later, be easy, think i'll bring my vintage coca cola shirt just in case, gotta focus

Sounds like Fear and Loathing in Alleva Coppolo...

Hey dudes, we've got some MDT merch left from the EP release gig last week.

First is the new shirt design, which I was pretty fond of:

Second is a CD of the EP:

(apologies for the shameless plugging...)

Better save one of dem WU TANG shirts in XL...

yeah the last album cost us a fortune because shipping prices have skyrocketed and also the Canadian dollar is not doing well compared to the US.

Speaking of which, for the guys in the US looking to press vinyl this might be an option for you. They offer free shipping to the US and the exchange rate works in your favor.

Whats the name of the place?

Hopefully going to see Torche this weekend - no local openers on that one. I don't know anything about openers, hope they don't suck.

Yeah no local openers on that one, otherwise it probably would have been VEGA or Moon Curse...but Im not going, I found tix to the sold out Alabama Shakes concert.

Instrumental bands are overrated :)

Sam is being modest - check out his band for instrumental awesomeness.

Lordy. I went home last night and scared up some Monobrow on the Youtubes.

Brother, I'm speechless. This is the band I've been looking for to scratch that instrumental itch.

Seriously nice work. The playing is outstanding. The bass passage a minute or so into "Big Sky, Black Horse" is tasty as hell.

So far I checked out that track, "These Mountains...", "Cicada", "Low Water" and "From the Brown Sun."

The word awesome gets tossed around far too often, but it's applicable here.

I really gotta pay more attention to the talent brewing on these pages. Some great shrt happening.

So, any of you guys with tube heads that have effects loops - every try putting your mod or delay pedals in the loop?
That bass looks bad ass!
I retract my previous disparaging comment about a pick guard.......
Now that is Bass Porn!!!
Satyrnine, that bass came out killer man.
If you had just described this bass to me, I wouldn't have thought I'd have liked it, but seeing it is an entirely different deal. It's just all manner of classy and tough looking.
Yup, that's goddamned classy. Nice work.

Thanks Guys! Really proud with how it turned out! Was super dissapointed when the Warbird kept me from being able to play long sets because the body shape was rubbing on my wrist bone. I spent so much time on money on the damn thing. Loved how it looked, but I think the Jazz body turned out even better, so it's all good.

Ok. You got me. The pick guard did tie it together... The only thing I would say is get some black screws for the control plate and guard. I've been GASSing for a J for a couple years now. Your not helping. ;)
I thought someone might notice! ha! They're actually already on order! If you're gassing for a J, I really like me second bass, a Blacktop Jazz. Dual P pickups. Obviously it sounds different than a true jazz, but it's a neat bass and makes people give it a double take. "Whaaaat, P's on a J!?"

@Satyrnine Really digging your Khufu demo on soundcloud!
Thanks Squanch! Things are going to really change in that regard soon. Our second guitarist recently quit the band, which we were all kind of expecting. $200 was too much to spend on upgrading his 50w valvestate amp, which clearly couldn't keep up with our other gear volume or tone wise. We suspect most of it was his wife keeping his balls in her pocket, but who knows. We're likely adding a really great guitarist from another local band (Matt from The Affront) if it works out. He's an amazing player, and great guy, and has wicked vocal chops, so might open up lots of options.

Also, I'm now in another project. "Wyrding" Pretty much impossible to describe. Dark Neo-Folk maybe? Brain-child of my long time friend. He wrote and composed it all, we're just the live band basically. He has connections to Roadburn Amsterdam, so we're hoping to get on the 2016 lineup.
