Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

In the last few years Acid King has started playing local (SF bay area) with Black Cobra occasionally. The doom metal band I was in a couple years ago (still am I guess, technically) used to play with them a lot in the late 90's/early 00's and when the frontman tried to hook up some new shows with them Laurie basically said they never really play California anymore.

That is excellent. When they were little my daughters came up on Godzilla and kung fu flicks, old Planet of the Apes, original Star Trek and bizarro ancient cartoons. We didn't do Barney.

I had the Nickel Helixes for a bit. They were decent strings for the price (on sale). Not much different than the LoRiders.

Yep. Killdozer is from Madison, as was Bongzilla (just saw Muleboy/PeeWee's new band last night), and Cuda, Pachinko, Brainerd, bunch of awesome bands.

We get good tours as well, can't count the number of times I've seen Melvins, Weedeater, High on Fire and countless other awesome bands right here in Madison.

Also - love the Crucif*cks.

The little hand is on the two...

Norlin-made, which piqued my interest a bit...

Good deal? Decent piece of equipment? Don't know much about 'em other than they were made late 70s-early 80s (from what I remember hearing...)

I also have heard they were really under-rated as far as watts.

I'd really appreciate any feedback here because all I am rawking at the moment is a 35 Watt practice amp.

I mean...$100? And that's about the max I can spend on anything right now...

I think squanch was looking at one a while back. I think he wanted the guitar head as it was a solid state twin reverb.

What part of Oklahoma are you in? I'm 45 min from the border, all kinds of gear goes through the DFW classifieds, I can keep an eye out for you.

Edit: OKC is 2:45 hr away from my door step, not crazy close.

Tulsa isn't much farther up, weird I'm just as far from the Texas capital as I am oklahoma's.

I would buy that in a heart beat. I got a hard on for those things though. Moog was involved in the design of those things. Looks damn clean too. If you got sick of it you could turn it into a head and sell it off on ebay. It's crazy how similar the guitar models sound to a Twin Reverb.

I listened to like 6 hours of beatles today. Made the day go by fast. Bongripper was tuesday, never listened to any albums but GBR before, now I've heard all. Good stuff, but I need fast/peppy music for time to move faster lol.

Stillwater? Eskimo Joes and all that stuff?

I was born in Austin (Round Rock) and lived there my entire life until I went to school at UNT and stayed put.
