Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Yesterday I was told I needed to make some baguettes for our AM frozen production team. I asked how many cases and was given a vague/non answer of "20 cases or something. And was told that I would be informed later of the exact number. That never happened. We are making 5 mixes for 1320lbs total. That takes time to get through. We have to divide, proof and bake the **** 2 mixes st a time due to time and space constraints. Now I am text battling the AM supervisor because his team needs the dividing machine before we will be done with it thus pushing back his production. He has been told by the big bosses (read: ass chewed hard) not to rush me. Baking under proofed bread makes for crappy product for a variety of reasons. The best part, I explain the only reason we are pushing them back is because of the production I am running for him. He tells me NOW that they don't need the baguettes yet. Communication charlie foxtrot and my daily dealings with the all mexican AM shift. Mucho putas.

This is my life.

Dont give me vague answers. Ever. I wont start a project with that kind of end goal. I have been burned too many times, literally and figuratively.

Had practice with the new band, got there and got set up and then got a text from the guitarist saying that he wasnt going to make it.

shag.

Since i was there and ready to go we jammed for a couple of hours. Good news is the 2 pro sounds amazing when its cranked up a bit. Got it pretty loud, the OD gets way dirtier, i had both the OD knob and gain knobs at just over 3:00 and it was damn dirty. The Bazz and Rat both sounded super, ridiculously heavy.

Really happy with the way it sounds.

I was hyping that Acid King album awhile ago here. It actually leaked over a month ago and I've been listening to it. I don't feel too bad as I preordered the vinyl awhile. It is pretty awesome. Maybe my favorite yet.

Played our first normal gig in like 9 months last night. Had a really great crowd and played a great set. Felt really good. New songs and new sound seemed to go over really well with the crowd. Witch Mountain has a new bassist and vocalist. They are pretty incredible live. I think they're going on tour with Yob? Last night was their first night on tour. Go see them if you get the chance. Great live band and really nice people.

Yeah I haven't heard anything Acid King has done the past 5-6 years and I really dig them. Have to play some catchup.

Love Yob. Never heard Witch Mountain. Will check 'em out. Thx for tip.

Congrats on the ace gig. There is no better feeling IMO...

There's nothing really to catch up on, this is the first new material they've released in 10 years. "III" was in 2005, I think they did a re-release of the self titled and Zoroaster sometime soon after that. They certainly haven't been dormant the whole time since then, but they haven't released any new music officially.

Saw PVYHenge.

Rewired the Jazzguardbird this morning. Still a bit of buzz when not playing. Might just have to live with it because those Gibby pups sound killer.
Finally got to play the Nine of Sword Tyrant Fuzz with bass, Oh My Fukc that thing sounds awesome on bass. The best sounding fuzz I ever heard on bass out of all the fuzz I have owned.

Retained low end? How about the top end?

Emailed DW who owned CB percussion. The free kit has CB percussion on the cymbals and stool and s series on the hardware and shells. It's all uniform though.

14x22 bass drum, 11x12, 12x13, 16x16 toms. Rather large toms and pretty small bass drum based on today's standards. Weirdly the scant mention online of these drums online suggests way smaller sizes.

It's nice and low-middy. I figured it would sound good on bass from how it sounds on guitar but I was really surprised how good on bass it is. It made my rat clone kind of sound like crap now. It has highs but not harsh ones. Not Geddy Lee at all. Super Doomy and doesn't fart out at all.
