I always think that when people eat snapping turtles. It took that poor bugger years to get that big and some clambake comes along and makes soup out of it. I worked at a lake right out of high school for three summers and this scummer on the maintenance crew would snatch them up while they came out of the lake to mate and threw them in the back of the truck. He said whenever you see one get it for me, yeah right, I will let everyone go I find in your truck. I always hoped one would bite him but good, he's the one who shouldn't of got a chance to breed.

Went fishing in Kentucky for spring break with a few friends my senior year of HS. We caught a normal gar and had no idea what to do with it because the teeth were bigger than its mouth. We just cut the line and let it go.

Biggest fish ive ever caught was a 24 inch Northern pike on a skidder bloop top water, that was a fun fight. If i ever had somethung that big on the hook, id probably cut the line and not even try to bring er in the boat.

IF I owned my own house I'd really dig having a small pond with a snapping turtle that could grow up back there. It would be quite fun to have like two acres and really terraform/landscape it for certain animals.

I travelled to Oz once in my ute. It was a pretty cool place, although I was quite young and was a little deflated when I discovered that Australia and the USA were far more similar than I had expected.

Australia is a ****ed up place in regard to endemic flora and fauna. If there were an evolutionary "no quarter given/sine missione" heavyweight arena, Australia would dominate the upper echelon battles. Everything on that continent evolved to kill the **** out of everything else on that continent.

NZ always intrigued me. Other than a layover in the AZ airport, I have never been but have some friends from school that studied there. Countries close to the poles(especially the southern hemisphere) intrigue me climate-wise.

the USA and aus are hilariously similar politically as well. massive corporations exploiting the natural resources paying their way through legislation, the rise of pop-country music, and backwards redneck shenanigans in regards to ingidenous peoples..

in regards to flora and fauna, this was a fun read. we used to have a lot of cool stuff til us honkeys came along. Island gigantism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When I was doing yard work yesterday my girlfriend cleaned out the little tiny pond we have and she found two little snappers in it and one bullfrog. She put them right back where they were but it was cool seeing them all catatonic waiting for the warm weather to hit.

Austrailia has the coolest reptiles, blue-tongue skinks, pine cone skinks, bearded dragons, spotted pythons, etc, etc. Yeah I love reptiles and have had some I listed over the years. But you also have crocs. I lived in Florida for four years and gators seem like a joke compared to crocs. Plus some cool marsupials, my gf keeps/breed sugar gliders.
