Well I guess the real question is will the EW tone work in the band. I know that bands like crowbar and down had active basses and SS amps but their more sludge then doom.

The Tim Bagshaw tone is more of a curiosity, but if I were to play doom full time, I'd want to play something more along the lines of EW. Crowbar and down, I already am using pretty much the exact same signal path as them.Well I guess the real question is will the EW tone work in the band. Also, has anyone been able to conjure up some doomy tones using SS equipment? What about spectors? Al Cisneros uses rics, I can't imagine a Spec would be much different besides p/ups and electronics. Thoughts?
Really??I think the majority of the guys in this thread use SS gear...
Really??
I thought most (not all) S/D guys were tube purists
No poopie...got any samples? Recordings? Not at all in this thread. You have a bunch of wankers out there dressed in '70's garb that stand in front of vintage gear for image.
But then you also have guys like @mc_muench who haul around a million pounds of SS peavey gear.
Decent deal on 400RB.

I can't find this anywhere in the search, and I KNOW it's been discussed again, but I will ask again:
What is the signal path on Dopethrone? Is it EB-3>Big Muff>Small Stone>SVT-CL>8X10???

I was under the impression that the dope throne tone was a ampeg/kramer p/muff
Ok need some music recommendations. I'm relatively new to the doom genre and I want to hear what you're currently listening to. Give me your heavy, fuzzed out sludge.
Oh and hi!
Hey and welcome. I don't like getting too genre-label specific just because people have different tastes and opinions. You happen to have wound up at one of the coolest corners of the web. But a lot of places you'll get flak like "Hey, that band isn't really doom. They are more like Norwegian death troll folk metal with stoner/sludge overtones!"
IMO, one of the hallmark releases of Doom is "Dopesmoker" by Sleep.
Now I'm basically just gonna list some heavy bands I dig...not necessarily doom, just good, heavy chit:
High On Fire, Sunn0))), Weedeater, Kvelertak, Entombed, Acid King, OM, The Sword, Orange Goblin, Goatsnake, Black Cobra, The Melvins, Bloody Panda, Electric Wizard...
There are also several brothers right here on this thread with absolutely kickass bands that deserve your attention...apologies if I love anyone out, but Milk Duct Tape, Monobrow, Hex Volt and Still Valley.

No ****...got any samples? Recordings?
Not sure if this is a compliment or im a wanker that stands in front of PVY for image.
I prefer to think of myself as an impurist.Really??

Awesome, thanks! Ive been listening to Monolord, Pallbearer, Orange Goblin, and Electric Wizard lately.
I dont post many places on TB due to the "strong opinions" found elsewhere, look forward to posting here some more.
For shiz and giggles here is live footage with the Kramer and then the band having a hissy fit amongst themselves and all taking turns walking off stage being dicks. They broke up as that lineup after this im pretty sure.
