Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Recorded drums last week and this weekend we're doing guitars. In an interesting twist, we're gonna do bass last to help it sit right in the mix so it isn't buried. I am super excited!

Don't know what my signal chain is gonna be. I thought I needed to figure it out ahead of time and be in control but our engineer is so cool and he totally gets what I'm trying to do so I'm gonna let him do his thing.

I was doing that a few weeks ago. I insulated the room with the standard pink stuff, and it really helped the noise. Wife was worried the neighbors would hate us. No complaints so far...

I never had as much buzz issue as you, flats helped though. I also think my playing style and they fact I didn't play many chords probably meant I just didn't notice.

I need to contact the guy who cut my red Pearl pickguard in austin. He had a source for white switches and a wiring schematic that added series parallel and stuff to it. Most likely I'll order the wiring parts, Mexican trem (for screw in arm) and staytrem bridge then give it all to him and have him wire it and set it up, defeatable foam mute etc. also.

Then I can do anything from bright and twangy to Motown or dub tone, and whammy once again!

That blows. I spent the better part of high school and post high school years working on a 75 monte carlo stock car for the local Enduro racing circuit. I wasn't the driver, but did 50% of the work and a lot of pitting. When the shager would actually run we did great. But yeah, if one thing wasn't breaking it was something else - or everything would work fine and the driver would roll the thing. Being two broke kids we just didn't have the funds to sink into it to be able to compete with the rest of the pack. We did have some fun, though.

Also - had a moment of panic last night at practice. Got everything set up - nothing but garbled noise coming from the amp. OH poopie WHAT'S WRONG.

Then I noticed that the tuner wasn't tracking - dead battery in the ATK. Popped open all of the pedals on my board and found one that had enough juice to get me through practice. Going to stock up this afternoon.
