Thats brutal. I had to look at it for a few seconds before I noticed that it was missing a knuckle and not just a small thumb. He should have just tossed the tip. Not likely it will be of much use or retain feeling. One of the mexicans I work with has a nub thumb just like that but without the tip. We like to joke and say
"Gimme 4 and a half!" instead of "Gimme 5!".

Also - had a moment of panic last night at practice. Got everything set up - nothing but garbled noise coming from the amp. OH poopie WHAT'S WRONG.

Then I noticed that the tuner wasn't tracking - dead battery in the ATK. Popped open all of the pedals on my board and found one that had enough juice to get me through practice. Going to stock up this afternoon.

Needing some Stoner Doom to work too. At one point I heard (youtube) an instrumental Stone-Doom-Drone-Psychedelic band that had very good driving/primal bass lines. I forgot to write it down so I can't remember who it was. It was while I was listening to Novadriver, Electric Moon, Stoned Jesus, Asteroid, Color Haze and stuff like that.
Any suggestions? Youtube links help because I'm just that lazy....

I always unplug, it was just time. Weird because it worked fine at last practice, sat in the case for a week, then was pretty much totally dead yesterday.

So bought a bass today...totally didnt expect to win it, thought someone would outbid me in the last few seconds.

32" scale no name japan bass, seems odd and cool. No tone, just pup selectors and a volume. May boot the Ric copy into retirement because its becoming a POS at an accelerated rate now. And VEGA only tunes a half step down so that should be easily doable with the medium scale.

Don't know what the guy thought he was accomplishing by removing those - there's other ways to remove weight.

Earthless came to mind, but then I wondered if you might be thinking of Grails? Grails hailed from Portland. I am not sure if they are together anymore. I know some members are playing with other bands and from what I've heard they don't plan on touring anymore, but they might still do recording projects.

Even if it wasn't Grails you were thinking of, they are a worthy band.

Anyone ever play an epiphone wildcat?

Got gas for a wildcat, Pelham blue SG, wilshire, or crestwood in the Epi department.

I've played several Wildcats. They have been through a few variations over the years, some special editions, etc.

I think they are good instruments; my only real beef with them is that they are so small-bodied. That appeals to many people, but I'm a big guy and if I were wanting a big hollow- or semi-hollow guitar I'd want something bigger like a Gretsch 6120 or a Gibson ES125 with a cutaway or something.

My problems with Wilshires and Crestwoods, cool as they are, is that every one I've ever played had such a thin neck joint I was afraid I'd snap it off just in regular playing. Ric guitars give me the same jeebies. Just seems too thin to be stable. Just my personal quirks though. I've been hurt before. Real bad.

Also want a Dano bass or guitar real bad too. Dano pro guitar would be neat. Time to start posting sale and want ads...

I love the Dano Pros. Love the body style. Again, too small for me though. Played a few of the reissues and dug them, but it felt to me like playing a cereal box with a neck stuck to it.

Dano basses sound like nothing else to me. I really like 'em a lot.

That is cool as hell. Those pickups could really be killer. Lots of excellent stuff came out of Japan back then (and today for that matter.)

That bass is reminiscent of a guitar a friend of mine used to play. It was branded "Califone" but often back in the day Japanese plants would churn out metric tons of identical instruments that got branded with several different names (or none at all...I like the blank headstock look personally.)

For instance, my 70s MIJ Lotus P bass copy...the model # is just L700, but this Lotus model is completely identical to the Hondo Deluxe 830 Professional model from the same time/place. Everything identical down to the bridge saddles, string tree and headstock shape. The ONLY difference is the name/logo on the headstock.
