An excellent learning experience for them and it would be a cool band name for them to use after they are convinced to change it.

I like the idea of isolation and have lived that way plenty in my life, but my main problem with it is that I really do hope to jam with people and gig again someday and it's just easier to find those situations in bigger towns or near metro areas.

Of course, I could well be dreaming (about ever playing live again) and I keep thinking it might be better just to forego that whole idea on go back to concentrating on home recording, in which case I have more use for pedals and other instruments rather than an amp.)

But I ain't giving up quite yet. Still have an old friend an excellent drummer who wants to get something off the ground. I just have to have more than 35 watts at my disposal.

I was thinking of you checking out the youtube videos of the Empress Phaser, the Subdecay Deluxe Quasar, and the Solidgoldfx Apollo. Excellent phasers but they also do some wild sounds besides just phasing, very trippy.

Good point, let me revise that to "isolation but with bandmates within 25 miles..."

I think you can cheaply "copyright" something like a band name by mailing a copy of an EP/album/whatever with the bands name on it, to yourself. Effectively the post mark will create a defined point in time that you were in possession of the name. Anyone who would contest that would be forced to provide irrefutable proof that they were using the name before you. More than likely they will not be able to.

I am not a lawyer though. I just have a couple judges and a dozen or so lawyers in my family. This tid bit didn't come from them though. I had always heard it used when trying to take official claim of an idea.

ha ha, my left ring finger has a flat, whitish bevel on it where my Wustof removed the skin a just a leeeetle bit of meat while slicing an onion..

My equally clumsy sister in law has the same scar in the same place from her chef knife. She was chopping a different onion, though.

I take the approach to band names that they all sound weird until you like the band, so I just pick weird band names that no one likes at first from the start. I usually search stuff on Google extensively, then see if it's taken on gmail, Bandcamp and a few other places where band names sort of get registered by default.

Speaking of Stoner / Doom bands, duplicate band names, and Champaign, there's these guys:

CDXIX | Resinater

Who I only know about because I am friends with these Phoenix locals



The bassist for the latter discovered the former, and they have made friendly contact, and used their FB to promote each other.

What a difference a vowel makes...
