Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

A few things:
1. Got the Blower Box on my board in a snug fit. Sounds great as always, the mix will tell the tale soon enough. I hope it's a different tale, i.e. that it stays on the board.
2. I forgot how to count. My board has 11 pedals on it now, including the Blower Box. Apparently I got excited.
3. This leaves me with 4 extra power plugs on my 1Spot. I can think of 3 more pedals I could put on the board, but what about #4?
4. I don't have space on the board for 4 more pedals - unless I remove my MB200 to a rack like I was thinking a few days ago. Decisions, decisions...

ha ha well I just went for option 1 and done. Pretty much all my aging bones can handle, especially when the little dudes are all "DADDY WAKE UP GET OUT OF BED!!!!!!" at 6:45 am this morning.

Fury is packed up and ready to go Monday.

Heaviest bass I've ever picked up. Must be like 15 pounds or more. Brass nut he didn't mess up it looks like

So i was converting my 98 precision deluxe to passive and swapping out the stock p pickup with a Geezer pickup. I get everything buttoned up and i have a hum when i have the tone knob turned up. Its worse when im touching the strings and not as bad when i take my hand off. Where have i gone wrong.

I only use three of the plugs on my pedal power thingy (one to the tuner, one to the wah, and one to the reverb... the big muff has its own adapter, and the swollen pickle is powered from the out on the tuner).

I know I don't HAVE to use them all, and I likely won't, but a man can dream. I feel like I could never quite get the right sound in the last band, but things seem better in the current one. I'm sure once I know what I'll need and what works in the mix, I'll likely tone down the board. Until then, I'm putting as many options on the board as I can so I can test them in the mix easily. And it's fun seeing a full board!

I've actually never found any use for layering more than two dirts, including the amp. I have both the Big Muff and Swollen Pickle on my board, but I never use them at the same time.

Hot and ground swapped on the output jack maybe?

Edit: Did you replace the output jack? Cause if it still has the TRS jack you might be hooked up to the wrong tabs also

Oh, god, no. I don't layer them all, that would be madness! I use one for my "base" tone, then layer on that when I need more dirt. The only time I use more pedals is when I use wah or delay or something. Mostly, I'm just gonna try them all, see which ones work in the current band, and the pare down the board again. Maybe get a chorus, or some other fun effect. Just like having lots of dirt for lots of different sounds, even if I don't need them all at the time.

Fun gig last night. May've been a little loose from boozin' but it was high energy and crowd was into it. Broke out an old and (for us) long track (7:30) that we hadn't played in a while. Also tried a brand new one that went well. Decent payout, though the cash was spread thin after four bands. I got to sing some Kyuss with one of the other bands which was a riot. Beat up today, but practicing this afternoon with 2nd band. Afters at mi casa went laaaaaaaaate but oh well. My MDT guitarist sent me this and I got a chuckle:

Hey guys thanks for the input, I disconnected everything and just ran straight from the pickup to volume and output jack and it's still humming, I think maybe I got one of the wires reversed on one of the coils and I need to flip it. But I haven't gotten to do that yet
