I find that with fuzzes, at least in my experience, the adage that what sounds good in the mix won't sound good solo has kinda applied so far. Both of my basses have numerous tone controls. The Supercollider has a standard tone, mids, and mass (bass) controls. If the tone goes up past noon, it seems to lose bass, regardless of the mass knob's position. The Pharaoh has a standard tone and a hi knob that mixes in the original signal with the affected signal.
I'm not planning on stacking the fuzz and 250, I was thinking of running one or the other. I know the 250 dooms pretty well, so I thought I might try that, since without all the extraneous tone knobs I might get a more useable sound, or at least get one much quicker. It seemed like no matter how I adjusted the tone last night, the fuzz wasn't present. That's what started my initial inquiry, because I loved the sound of the fuzz, and at low volume jamming it killed. So I'm just thinking I might need to crank the volume on the fuzz when we play louder and say forget unity gain.
most of stoner rock is minor pentatonic. doom incorporates the flat 2 and/or the maj 7 as passing tones quite often as well i find. i like middle eastern scales too. when slowed down they can be quite doomy.Hi guys. I just came here to ask a few questions, I try to say all the info that i think u will need to help me
First my gear:
Fender Aerodyne

Yamaha BBT500

I just play bass like less than a year ago (studying music seriously), but I learn fast...
Now i throw my questions:
I know learn songs of this generes don't help me to improve my skills or my music development, but..in wich mode/scale is easier to find "stoner rock" bass lines?
(for study these modes or scales)
Wich EQ and bass config would be better to find stoner tone?
Ty in advance![]()
Doom actually does improve your ability to stay in the pocket and on tempo. Easier to mess up timing when you're going slow than fast, as there's more space between each beat.Hi guys. I just came here to ask a few questions, I try to say all the info that i think u will need to help me

What? How?So I swapped my flatwounds for StainlessSteel to get a decent fuzz going...and I think I broke my truss rod. It's super loose now. Damn it.
Can any Fender Jazz replacement 34' neck fit?

I wonder if that would fit on my minivan.
Continuing to think about my fuzz/mix dilemma. Got a DOD250 in today. 3rd one. As usual, loving it solo. Had one guitarist over tonight, and it seemed to do better in the mix. Maybe this whole "no tone controls" theory has some weight to it! Next week the full practice will tell, but it definitely was better than the other fuzzes I had. (Yes, I realize it's not a "fuzz", but it's fuzz-y.)
Anyway, I got to thinking. LS-2? Would a clean blend help, or just unnecessarily cluster my board? I know some people swear by clean blending, others hate it. Mind you, I don't want crazy fuzz. I want fuzz with lows and some definition to cut the mix. So far I can EQ a fuzz for all lows, or all bite, but not both. So, blending?

NBD. Fury number 2 has landed. Thanks again @Burnsy. Bass was well packed and arrived with no scuffs or scrapes that hadn't already been there. I was going to ditch the cream PG for a white one, but the cream is growing on me..,
Look up hard top roof tent.
They sit on your gear skids, upgrade to a nice set like Thule and it fits to it.
