Stoner/Doom Bassists Thread, Part 90: Maxed Out

Have a funeral viewing to go to and then a family birthday get together and the honorary birthday gal choose the effen Golden Corral in lovely Newport News as where she wanted to eat. Every time I eat there I realize that if stuff ever goes south people would not have to turn into zombies to eat each other. In a catastrophe all the Golden Corral type people would be chowing down on neighbors within two days. Already hitting the special stash of Kava King micronized kava I keep in my office for "Emergencies'.
Yesterday the Father in law was over watching the little one as he got off school early for an in service day. When I got there he said he was getting his diddle on with my gear and loved the Jackson Outcaster. But what he said he really loved was that small signal you got, that thing is sweet he said. He meant the Small Stone. I said yeah, you just can't beat some phaser. I love hearing other people play your gear, it's like you can hear how it sounds more. He had that Jackson singing after he tweaked the tone knob just right.

Maybe he removed it because he's selling it to you?

No response, so it's a thought, but me thinks the ship dun sailed.

I think there should be a People of Golden Coral like there is a People of Walmart site.

We're gonna need a bigger lens...

well if the hollow body is off the table, I just sold the Polara. Gonna move a few more things then buy the parts for the SG.

For the life of me can't find a good deal on a 30ish watt combo.
You looking for tube or solid state? I've realized that people equate the word "tube" with "valuable" no matter how junky it is.
Let me clarify, the people on Craigs List seem to think that if anything has a tube in it, it's worth top dollar.

Anybody else have any issues ordering from Bass Strings Online lately? I ordered some strings on October 16th and just got the shipment notice now. I had to email them a ways back and ask them why I hadn't received any strings yet or even any shipment info after 10 working days and they said the strings I ordered were back ordered, which would have been good to know at the time I placed the order. To their credit, they offered to ship me a different set of strings asap that were slightly more expensive for the same price, but I didn't want the particular strings (for a specific reason), so I chose to wait. Kind of a bummer, I've had really good experiences with them in the past. Don't know if it's a fluke or what, I noticed they don't have a sub-forum or any affiliation with TB anymore, you used to get a discount for being a member.

Tubes, I'm not an animal ;)

I'll wait, just hoping a $275 classic 30 or delta blues shows up. Most amps in the 15-40 watt range are boutique dr. Z and such here. I'm not up to spend $1k on a 30 watts.

Have you added a Crate Palomino to your search? Maybe one of those turns up. There's two Classic 30's here on the Phoenix C-list, asking $375 and $300 respectively, so you might get lucky.

Those amps are $700-$800 new, so that might be a long wait to find one for that price.

For the price range you want, you're looking at Bugera-level stuff. Or a random deal on something weird, but like others have mentioned, Tube = $$$ in most people's minds.

Random deal on something weird is how I role. To hell with the $$$ in people's minds.

Oh yea I'm open to them and other things. I just want a clean/gritty pedal platform, and I know the peavey well. I paid $375 6 years ago for a classic 30, I'm just being difficult.

Wow. Bringing up bad memory of trying to sell the black RB650 earlier this year. Once I would not go down on the price I kept getting bombarded with tirades about how much I paid for it. Stopped responding and blocked the number, yeah I gave them my cell number to ask questions.
During the haggling it was like a new person every 15 min would try to work me down. Still have the bass. May try again soon.
Bummer was I should have double checked the profile that sent me the IM here. They had never posted other than to harass me. Admins were notified.

Good use of a Google phone number (throwaway) Link Removed.google.com/voice

You're still supposed to be able get a discount. I think the process is PM jason (SLaPiNFuNK | TalkBass.com and tell him which account you are on basstringsonline and he adds you to the VIP list there. Whenever you order after that (when logged in at bso) you should see a VIP discount.

I used to order all my strings there but now only when I'm not in a hurry. I had the same issue, most of the stuff that I want to order he doesn't have in stock so it takes longer than you expect or it's drop shipped from the mfg. I don't think there is a way to tell from the website what is actually in stock, my last order took 10 days to ship. I've also had order ship the same day.

It just goes to illustrate how infrequently I change strings. I buy new instruments more often than I do strings, I'm terrible. Trying to break that habit. I think in the future I'll settle for getting stuff faster as opposed to saving 2 or 3 dollars.
